This is part of a response (the meat) from Florida Senato Bill Nelson.
He voted Yes on the extension of the AWB.

While I support the constitutional right to bear arms, I also support efforts to reduce gun violence and promote firearms safety. Every effort must be made to ensure that our children, and society at large, are protected from firearms violence. I appreciate your letter. Your communication helps me serve you better in the Senate.

It's all about the children...

Dear {fallingblock}

Thank you for contacting me regarding S. 1805, the Protection of
Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.

As you know, S. 1805 seeks to prohibit third-party civil
liability
actions against gun manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and importers
when guns are misused. Similar legislation (H.R. 1036) was introduced
and
passed in the House. During the recent Senate debate, several
amendments
were offered and passed, including a 10-year extension of the assault
weapons ban currently set to expire on September 13. Language was also
added to require that child safety locks or storage devices be sold
with
all handguns, and that criminal background checks are performed at gun
shows where at least 75 guns are sold. Despite intense debate of this
legislation, it failed on final passage. Separate senate bills may be
considered regarding each of these amendments.

While I support the constitutional right to bear arms, I also
support efforts to reduce gun violence and promote firearms safety.
Every effort must be made to ensure that our children, and society at large, are protected from firearms violence. I appreciate your letter. Your
communication helps me serve you better in the Senate.

Sincerely,
Bill Nelson

I'm so tempted to write him back and tell him to shove it where the sun don't shine .. but I'd just be wasting my time ..

Looks like we all got the "canned" response letter. At least we know we're working together, by contacting our senators I mean.

P.S. - I'm right up the road from Orange Park. Probly 2 hours from Orlando. We'll have to set up a shoot or lunch sometime.
