Load or Ejector Problem?

The last time I was at the range with my Mauser C96 (763X25) I had problems with the cases not fully ejecting before the bolt came forward again. The cases (not all) got caught between the bolt and the top of the barrel.

Is this a case of the loads not being strong enough to drive the bolt back or the ejector not functioning properly?

Are they handloads or what? It could well be both reasons you cited.. was the gun clean and well lubed and were you holding it firmly?

"Stove pipe"? If shooting handloads, I'd think the load's too light to fully cycle action. If you get stove pipes with factory fodder, I'd disassemble the gun as much as necessary and give it a good cleaning (even if brand new). If the problem still exists with a clean gun and factory amm, then look at the gun's functioning/extractor, etc...

I should have said they were reloads. 4.5gr of Bullseye with an 86gr bullet.

The gun was clean and oiled.

If I remember, the last time I fired the weapon I had used 5.5gr of Bullseye and they seemed a little stout.
