recommend a range in the DFW area?

I'm looking for someplace to shoot regularly in the DFW area, closer to Ft Worth/Mid Cities if possible.

I'd really like to find someplace outdoors where you can practice the GSSF/IDPA type shooting versus bullseye type stuff. (Or is drawing from a holster and shooting at multiple targets usually a range no-no?)

I’ve been out to TacPro and TDSA and both those places are great, but both are also almost a two hour drive from me.

Any suggestions?

where I shoot real often ;) www.dentoncountysports.com

The Parker County range looks like a heck of a deal - if not so far to drive.

For years, I've been going to the Alpine Range, a few minutes south of Fort Worth.

There's an indoor range right at East Loop 820 and Lancaster (funny, can't remember the name of it just now). It's not bad. I've only shot pistols there; gets pretty smoky in there, but it's a decent place.

Nathanael,

That would be the Winchester Gallery.

Bill,

There's the Haltom City Rifle & Pistol Club off of 121 & Minis.
817-834-8498

They have monthly meetings/gatherings @ Ryan's Steakhouse on Rufe Snow & NE 820 every 1st Wed. of the month.
Just show up @ 7:30 to apply.

Have'nt joined yet myself; may try to make it next month.
$100.00 initiation w/ annual dues of $75.00.
Range looks to be pretty decent w/ covered shooting areas and appears to be well kept.

Any other THR's that are members of Haltom City Club?

Alduro, I'm keeping an eye on that. I hope I can make it to the shoot.

The Parker County range is just a little farther than I was hoping for, but very interesting. That's almost exactly what I think I'm looking for.

I spoke to someone at the Haltom City club today and it just struck me more as a bullseye type club. I got the impression from the guy I talked to that they didn't really want anyone shooting rapid fire type stuff out there.

Quail Creek, just north of the Denton County line. Right off of I 35W.
Quiet, outdoor range.
If you go early in the day, during the week, you may be able to shoot all day. As long as there is no one waiting to use the range, they'll let you stay, rather than trying to limit you to an hour.
Handly ever crowded.
Alpine is OK, but always busy.
Winchester is indoor and short, not a rifle kind of place.
