Guys, I recently purchased a Browing 45 Caliber Mountain Rifle. I have never shot Black Powder before. What type of powder, caps, short should I use. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Eddie:)

Welcome Eddy... I'd go here and browse around a bit. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=238769 Lots of good info there.
I'd use 50-100 grains of FFFG Goex behind a patched round ball in that rifle. Maybe start with .440 ball and some premade pre lubed patches. Most shops will have both of those, about any #11 cap should get you started making smoke..

Have one in "flinch lock". Yes I use .44 ball you can play with powder charge, 60 gr. will push a round ball OK then work up. At $20-ish/ lb for the real thing I tend to shoot light loads most of the time. I also shoot it with some 210 gr. conicals.
Have fun!!

Guys, Thanks for the welcome and getting back to me. Looking forward to firing this rifle. I contacted Browning hoping to get a user's manual. I shoot at Ben Avery's Shooting Range (1300 acres) here in Phoenix, AZ. Will keep you posted. Thanks, Eddie
