So, how much should a CZ 550 Lux in .308 in set me back?

Have heard great stories about its single set trigger and fine iron sights and now I am interested. Let's say, what would be the high mark for one of these?

I bought a CZ550 medium magnum in 300 win mag on gun broker for $600. It was in great condition but the sights had been remove but the auction included warne rings.

Looks like Gander Mountain is selling them for $999. So a realistic price is probably closer to what viking said....$800ish

Check with Buds Guns or Whittakers. That should be your best prices. CZ Custom or CZ USA may also have it.

^^ nice pic. The checkering is rather nicer than it shows in stock pictures. What scope do you have on it?

Another option with sights is the FS. If you keep an eye out you can find a perfect condition used 550 (various versions) for as much as $300 under what most shops get for them new. A lot of people haven't yet learned what great guns they are, so they sometimes don't get many bids. Mine in .308:

Foreign guy came into the range store with a FS 550 looking for rings. The price tag on the box said $995, from another store in town. I think it was in 30-06.

I got mine used from Cabelas several years ago for $650(.308 w/cheap scope); 3 shots touch w/Fed 150 gr blue box ammo @ 100yds.

Yes, it's a nice gun.

My second oldest twin boy is gonna get that one someday.

The other's getting my AR.

You know... the wood on some of these guns looks really nice. I wonder why no one mentions that?

Say I6turbo, I see that you are running yours with irons only... how do you like them? Did the come sighted in already? Or how easy were they to adjust?

Of course shops are free to sell at whatever they are able, and sometimes provide other services as part of the sale, but $995 seems a bit steep for the FS relative to MSRP. MSRP is $864 for all calibers except the 9.3x62 at $911. New, something in the $775-$815 range has been the norm from what I've seen. Seems that undamaged used ones in the box with papers and all bring about $675-$700 on GB. I got lucky and was the only bidder on mine and got it LNIB for a very good price. Seller claimed one round had been fired through it (but I couldn't really see any evidence in the barrel or bolt head that it'd been fired).

RE: CZs, the wood ranges from nice, plain, straight-grain to very, very nice, and it's mostly just luck of the draw if someone isn't able to pick through a batch for a super fancy one. It's known among CZ fans as winning the wood lottery if you get a great one. I'd rank mine at about 5 or 6 on the 1-10 CZ scale from what I've seen. I've never seen an 'ugly' one, just some with fairly featureless straight grain (which some people prefer, so it's really in the eye of the beholder -- there's no crappy wood from what I've seen). Reportedly there's also a "fancy wood" option, but I'm not sure how that works.

I have a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 for mine, but the photo that I posted was prior to installing the scope. The iron sights on mine were very well adjusted from the factory. If they're off, they are pretty easy to adjust. The front is on a ramp and slides fore and aft up and down the ramp (for easy removal) by pressing a spring-loaded release with your fingertip. The rear is adjustable with a small screwdriver (no knocking them back and forth with a mallet or anything like that). Here's a photo of the rear sight on a 550.

I've not seen a CZ 550 Lux in 308 before. I have seen 22-250, 30-06 and 7mm Rem Mag. Price seems to be around $800-900. I have a CZ 550 Lux in 7x57 but it's the only one I've ever seen. I think I paid $900 for it (lightly) used because I didn't think I could find one otherwise. Please keep in mind, if you're not familiar with the Bavarian style stock, it will likely feel to point very naturally using the iron sights and maybe a bit awkward with a scope mounted on high rings.
