Is there a powder out there similar to H335? What would give similar results loading a 223 bolt gun with 55ish grain bullets?.

Winchester 748 is similar and has given me some of my best accuracy with 55 gr. bullets. I've got a target I shot with my Remington 700 BDL Varminter that is 5 shots in 5/8" at 200 yards using 748.

Hope this helps.

Yes WC-844. It's the pull down version of H-335 and uses the same data as H-335. When in stock on-line it runs around $85 for 8 pounds, or at least used to.

The chances are..........................????

The last I bought WC844 it was $89/8lbs........somehow I think it's going to go up a bit.

Varget is a huge favorite for .223.

4064 should be a winner, also.

Shoot up that varget. Have some great grouping with that and 55 grain nosler Ballistic Tips. I was loading them long in my bolt gun.

If I were in your shoes, I would try your existing powders in this order:
Varget
IMR-4064
IMR-4198
If you are shooting 55 gr bullets, chances are you will achieve sufficient results with Varget. If you also want to use lighter bullets, you could try your IMR-4198, and if that doesn't work for you, consider trying some Ramshot TAC or Exterminator, or some Accurate 2015 or 2230. They have worked well in my rifles.

.......and don't forget H-322. I've read it's won more benchrest competitions than any powder.

I like Accurate 2460, shoots great with most bullet weights 55 and above

Maybe you can find:
BL-(C)2, CFE223, AA2230, AA2460 and I'm sure there are a few VV powder that work well too.

Varget will work too like mentioned above...
