Wanted to hear from you guys that own the gun. I need to give my Colt 1911 Gold Cup Series 70 a rest from the range, but want to keep shooting 45ACP, and buy something at a reasonable price. (H&K USP compact is my dream gun, but don't want to shell out $900+)

The SR45 caught my eye, so wanted to see what your opinions were on the gun. I put lots of reloaded 45ACP through any gun I take to the range-and in no way am I a collector.

Just looking at value for the dollar.

A related question-Ruger current MSRP is $529-gunbroker prices range anywhere from $430-560, what did you pay? Last thing I want to do is overpay for a gun during the current panic.

Thanks for the help guys.
Gerry

Have you actually seen one in the store? I've seen the new XDs and it's nice looking, but the SR45 is more interesting because I would be replacing a P345.

I'd love to see one.

As far as reloads, that's mostly what I shoot in my SR9c and P345, they do just fine they have traditional rifling and good chamber support.

On an impulse, I picked one up today for $329.00 OTD. Being a big Ruger fan I couldn't resist. The first thing I did was to turn the arched backstrap around, and it feels much better now. (to me anyway) Now, I just have to wait until some spare magazines start showing up!

I've only fired 200 rounds through mine. Nothing special, no FTF or FTE. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up so I can spend a bit more time at the range.

Hi All, new to the forum. Ordered a SR45 from my lgs last week. Out the door I paid $445 plus sales tax. Should be here if a few days if nothing bends or breaks.

Having a hard time locating ammo for it but I do have time to search since I can't shoot it anyway.

Bought my SR45 on 1-17-13 for $484 including tax. Had to send it back to Ruger on 1-21-13 due to the slide lock not locking back like it was suppose to and the front sight dovetail was cut crooked. Ruger repaired the slide stop mechanism and replaced the slide. New slide is fine and the slide stop works like it suppose to. The mags eject fine when the slide is forward but tend to be hard to eject when the slide is locked to the rear. I've shot Sellier & Bellot, Magtech and Winchester white box ammo with no problems but I've had a couple light strikes using PMC ammo and it hates RWS ammo, light strikes on about every other round. I haven't cleaned the striker channel yet but plan to tonight and run some more ammo through it later in the week. I really like the gun but reliability hasn't caught up to my flawless SR9 yet. If you're looking for a reasonable priced 45, check out the Springfield XD45. I have a 4" Service model that's been flawless and I shoot it more accurately that the SR45 plus the mags hold 13 rounds.

Guys,

Thanks for the responses on this. Just bought one on gunbroker for $455-seemed like an OK price based on what some of you said you paid. I'm patting myself on the back because there were abotut 6 other SR45's on gunbroker-all for over $500, and one as high as $550 (blame it on the current panic).
Excited to get the new gun and take it to the range.

Be sure to clean out the striker channel. I cleaned mine tonight, it was full of gunk which was probably my light strike problem. Cleaning it also smoothed out the trigger pull getting rid of a lot of the gritty feel.
