Hes got a .308 leveraction that he reloads for and while showimg me his setup i noticed his box says .308 and also has 7.62x39mm on it. Does that mean it can do both?

I just so happen to have about 500 cases of once fired brass for my sks and would love to be able to use his dies if possible!

Yes I am positive. I was a bit perplexed. It mentioned from .308-.311 too.

I might just have to go over there with some brass and see

Well, it can't be both.

Maybe it said 7.62x39, and would load .308" and .311" bullets, because the set includes both sizes of expanders.

Which would be in keeping with 7.62x39 dies.

But if they are for 7.62x39, they will not load .308 Win / 7.62x51 NATO.
No way, no day.

He probably has a set of dies for both 7.62 NATO and 7.62X39.

One set of dies can't do both.

7.62mm38 came with one or the other or both .311" and .308" sizer plugs.

The 308 W 7.62mm51 case head is .470, at the shoulder is .454, case length if 2.015/51mm.

The Russian 7.62 case head is .447, at the shoulder is ..396 and case length is 1.528.

Then there is the 307 Winchester and the 308 Winchester, one has a rim, the other is a bottle neck type cases, one set of dies is good for both.

There's such a thing as 308/7.62x51 lever action?

Oh I see now, it has a rotary magazine. Interesting

The resizing die should be stamped with the cartridge it is designed for. Do not trust the label on the box.
