Our local PD has a obtained a dog to help with drug related arrests.

I found it ironic that it is a bird dog. I think the PD wants to flush a few quail as well as criminals. :D

And in the event that the quail are armed....he has body armor.

Never seen a Springer with body armor before. They're good, trainable dogs though, so ot will probably work.

"Yo. Dog! Why you be pointin' at me?" :D

An English Springer Spaniel!

That's what kind of dog I've got. They're my favorite breed. It's amazing how many roles they can fulfill. I'm at work right now, but I have a pic on my computer that shows a Springer pulling a dogsled right along with Huskies in Alaska.

I love Springers. :D

A friend years ago raised Springers. His favorite was a hunter. He hunted quail. He hunted quail as though it was an addiction. If you took a gun to the truck, he went raging, frothing at the mouth insane, until he was in the truck. He would hunt from sun up 'til you were ready to drop, and would crawl under the truck and refuse to come out if you wanted to go home before he was ready. You almost dreaded a good day, when you limited out early. Chum couldn't count. "Limit", to him, pertained to available daylight, and if you could see the ground, you were supposed to be hunting. If this dog runs drugs like Chum ran quail, your county should be drug-free in short order.

Tactical-like velcro flapped pockets on a dog's vest...

They make him carry his own scooby snacks?
He has his own radio & throat mike?
Baggies to pack out his own poo? (pet poo cleanup laws, you know)

Don't mistake that vest for armor. It probably has the officer's lunch. ;) Poor fido is probably dying trying smelling it and he can't reach it. :p

What a great looking Springer.

Smoke , if they head out toward the "prime areas" - volunteer to watch six:D "Just round up some witnesses" LOL
I don't think all that is all lunch in that vest...some of that looks like shell boxes to me.

It just looks like straps to me . I think that is a good idea to give the dogs body armor.I mean think about it how much money and time is tied up in training a good police dog? We hedge officer bets by them wearing a vest . Why not do the same for officer fido?

If I want something sniffed out, don't give me some type of shepard, give
me a good Lab nose or some other hunting breed!:D
