If you are like me, you feel like you are risking permanent blindness every time you try to get that little paperclip-thingy in the guide rod on a Kimber Compact. You have to push down so hard on the recoil spring that the slightest little slip will send it hurtling toward your unprotected skull at the speed of light. I have been trying to think of a good tool that will help with this and tonight I found it. I toop the cap off a Papermate "X-Tend" pen. It fits perfectly over the guide rod. I cut a small notch in the open end so you can push the paperclip tool into the guide rod while compressing the spring.
