Well, I've officially joined the Glock family with a Gen4 G21

Man am I stoked. I've been looking for a weapon like this for quite a while (full size .45acp) and when I made my final decision to go with the Glock 21, it just felt right.
Before I left my LGS I had them install a Trijicon H3 high-vis front sight and glock factory rear night sights (they didn't have the rear Trijicon for my 45, oh well) The Gen4 came NIB with 3 mags, four replaceable back straps, a lock, 2 factory fired shells, a "speed loader", and the standard stacks of papers.
Man this is a solid weapon. And I'm one happy customer. Range reports to come!

Congrats! I've had a Gen2 Glock 21 for about 2 decades and I still love it!

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to learning every aspect of this pistol. Any G21 aficionados out there care to share any experiences, do's, don'ts, horror stories, good times, whatever? I'd like to hear em all

I bought one (Gen 2) on a whim just recently. It shot very nicely. I just didn't really have a niche for it, as it's a touch on the huge side for CCW, and the rules of the various gun games don't make it ideal for any of them. I do think another Glock may be in my future, though.

My favorite .45! I really like my Gen4 G21, super nice all the way around. Super versatile too, .45 Super is very nice to shoot out of it as well.

One of these days I'm going to find a G20SF or a G21SF at the right price and grab it. Then buy whichever barrel it doesn't have (10mm/.45acp). I have owned two Glocks so far, but they didn't do it for me. Maybe third time will be the charm. Having .45acp. .45 Super and 10mm in one handgun may allow me to overlook the ergonomic issues.

The Gen4 came NIB with 3 mags, four replaceable back straps, a lock, 2 factory fired shells...
So the state of Maryland can solve twice as many crimes using the ballistic matching.
Let's see...twice times zero equals...yep, your tax dollars hard(ly) at work...

If I were a "sig line" kind of guy, I think that might make a worthy one.

What was the price that you paid in these days of panic and shortages?

The G21 is pretty much indestructible. There is a website around of a character who has abused his G21 to what should be mechanical death. If there ever were a "zombie pistol", the G21 would be a serious contender. I have a couple Gen4 G21s, and several other Glocks.

Congrats! Here you go: http://theprepared.com/content/view/90//administrator/

That's the exact blog that sold me on this weapon! That's some serious abuse right there. Feels good knowing that mine won't see a fraction of the conditions his did, and his is still ticking

You'll want the G21 then, which can be converted to 10mm. The G20's barrel being smaller circumference, the barrel port on the slide will not accommodate a .45 ACP.

Authoritative-sounding, all right, but patently incorrect. ;) The barrel diameters are the same. The fit "problem" is the barrel hood, which is narrower in the 10mm. There's also a problem with inconsistent extraction with a conversion barrel, as it's hard, if not impossible, to get sufficient extractor tension on the 10mm case.

The 10mm extractor won't fit in the G21 slide.

The LGS I went to doubles as a Mil./LEO/EMS/any other public services gear, weapons, and ammo distributor. Their asking price for commercial sale was $585, but for any of the above mentioned jobs, whether active, reserve, or retired (I just got out of the Corps) they ask $460 before tax so I walked out for $500.
Those mags are all 13rd, the back straps come with extended trigger housing pins and a punch.
I wasn't aware of the ability to caliber swap this gun so easily, can any of you expound briefly on the options and requirements for doing so? Also the practicality of it if y'all feel so inclined.

Swear I'm not out to be a bull sitter. :uhoh:

I actually googled before posting that answer and found (what else?) a link to an old thread on THR where a poster said the same thing. Good catch on your part.

You can solve the G20 versus G21 problem by doing like I did...buy 2 of each. :D You are correct regarding that site showing some tremendous abuse. I wonder how many hundreds, or perhaps even thousands of Glocks have been purchased based on his findings? That site also is what convinced me to purchase my G20s and G21s, G26s, G19s, G17s, G34s. I still have considered a G22, but it can't do anything that my G20s can't. I can purchase a lot of 10mm Auto for the cost of purchasing 2 G22s.
