Gun Ownership and Use as a Religion: Maybe that is the way to get Govt to Back Off

This is all getting so crazy, but I'm seeing the polarization of beliefs in this country forming so deep that the depth of believe in guns, gun ownership, self defense, and the link to patriotism and defense of civil rights to be the same as the core beliefs of different religions. If that is the case, we might as well start a church, based on our beliefs, and get the same dispensation from government control that the Amish or Muslims are now getting. Theoretically, how could the government attempt to regulate core beliefs and practices of a soon to be recognized, heavily supported, active, new religion?
