And Ive hit my 1st big snag 1911 build snag. I have a Caspian Stainless 45acp Ejector on my Commander build. After installing it last night, the ejector does not fit inside the slide. the Ejector is too far to the left (looking at the rear) by 1/3 of the ejector width.Everything is square. Its a Caspian frame, ejector, and Slide. What am I missing here?

Any chance you got a .38 Super/9mm slide by mistake?

Check and see if a .45 ACP case rim will fit the breechface.

Too far to the left? You got a Gov't model ejector. For future reference, the 45ACP Gov't ejector is different from all the other caliber/slide length variants. When the Commander was developed in the 50's, it was originally made in 9mm, necessitating an ejector offset to the right (closer to the firing pin) for the smaller diameter case head. When they upsized it to 45ACP, the ejector remained the same as the 9mm, except shorter on the front end. It has remained so for all of the years since. The Gov't model guns all use the original ejector for 45ACP and one offset to the right for any other caliber. This is true for Colt brand pistols and some others, but I cannot vouch for all other brands. When you re-order, specify that it is for a Commander. If they do not understand what you are saying, just get one for a 9mm/38Super/40S&W. It will work fine.

Thanks all.

I missed the FAQ on Caspians Page-

Q: What kind of ejector do I use in my Commander/Officer slide?

A: All Caspian officer and commander slides regardless of caliber are cut for .38s/9mm ejectors.
