Having an issue with the Dead Length Bullet Seating Die. It's a bit wobbly, even when it's screwed down to the desired depth, and I'm not getting consistent lengths. The thing just doesn't have that "tight" feel that all my other dies have. I'm talking about the adjusting screw - that's the part that feels wobbly. Not the die itself.

Anyone else experience this? Case lengths are nuts-on. Bullet dimentions are wonderfully consistent. I'm doing 30.06 to a COL of 3.238. At least that's the idea. I'll get her dialed in, run a couple rds to perfection, measure the third one through, and she'll be 3.244. Could this be due to the BTHP design I'm using?

TIA for any and all help.

I use Lee dies myself, seen the same "wobbliness" you speak of.

Does six thousands of an inch really impact your accuracy? It doesn't for me in my 223AI or 260.

Some bullets don't have super consistent lengths...check COAL via ogive and see how consistent they are - you might be surprised.

Well ain't that a fine howdoyado? When measured at the ogive, things are happy. :o

Thank-you.

ETA: See, this is what happens when a guy reloads strait-wall handgun stuff for too long. He forgets just how scientific this hobby NEEDS to be.
