I just brought home a wasr-10 and field stripped it to clean it out and now I can't get the receiver cover back on. The receiver cover won't go forward enough to get the retaining tab through the hole. What am I doing wrong?

I think chapperjoe's right on this one.

Rifle is beink of AK-47 design, yes? Do not be vorryink about damage.

The front of the dust cover will fit into a little "slot" on the receiver, then as you rotate the back end down into the retaining tab it'll want to slip backward (toward the stock) and the tabs come out of the receiver if you do this slow.

Insert tabs.
Rotate down a bit.
Keep pressure forward on the cover to keep the tabs in place.
Then scream "Aaaah, motherland!" and smack the dust cover home hard.

If you're wondering just how the "Aaaah, motherland" should sound (that's the hard part) see this: http://www.bunchofdrunks.com/random_stuff/endofworld.swf

Edit: WARNING there's some cursing in that video.
