A month or more ago, I ran across a company that was offering what was essentially a Daewoo K5 with a rail and a nice paint job. It was interesting, although I'm not really in the market for a new pistol so I mentally filed it under "cool but unimportant information."

Well, my wife (who lived in Korea for a summer) and I were talking the other day and I mentioned the Korean pistol. She wanted to see it but now, despite my best googling efforts, I can't seem to find the little bugger.

I figure someone on here knows what I'm talking about and can help me out.

I hope their line-up will include the DP52. That is a very nice pistol.

All I can say is "Woo"-hoo!!.
I love the 'Woos. I wish they'd start importing the K2/DR200 again. That is a sweet rifle.

rtz, Yep! That's them. Thanks.

Jaymo, while I never could really warm up to the looks of it, I've heard that the K2's are pretty good guns. Plus, it's something different than just another AR, but still takes the same mags.

It would be pretty cool if they could start importing them again. They could just omit the parts that they would be replacing for 922r and put the US made ones on when they get here.

That would be awesome. My DP52 is as good a pistol as my 22LR PP.

What is "double action +"? Are the guns not single action at all?

Just an FYI. Go to youtube and nutnfancy has a review of this pistol.

What is "double action +"?

This was called tri-action by Daewoo. The action works as any DA/SA. The "plus" is the fact that the hammer, while in SA, can be thumbed forward again in a hammer down position. An easy pull of the trigger then snaps the hammer back to SA and can be fired with a short, light pull. It's neat.

Montgomery, I'll have to go look at that.

I just went on gunsamerica and there are two different sellers offering the pistol but both are pretty much charging MSRP.

The Daewoo is a nice pistol, but at those prices it's competing with some pretty heavy hitters (Walther P99AS & PPQ, Springfield XDm, S&W M&P Pro, Beretta 92FS, etc.).

Fishbed, that's very true, but there's a lot of polymer there and some people (actually my wife included) just prefer a metal sidearm. For those people the list gets a lot shorter.

Plus, having shot the M9 in the service, I can tell you that the Beretta is a big pistol. Really too big for a general issue service pistol in my opinion because people with smaller hands can't get a proper grip.

I've also heard serveal people with smaller hands comment that they have issues reaching the triggers on Sig's double action trigger.

Those factors serve to narrow the field of competetors significantly for some people. I can definately see a market for this gun, a niche market to be sure, but that's actually where you can get a premium price for a product.
