Questions on my new .375 H&H

In the past several weeks I've decided to go for quality over quantity----plus the safe was getting too full. So I have been trading off my "cheapies" for the higher dollar stuff.

So now I have at home a new Bushmaster Varminter .223----a Sako 75 Hunter .375 H&H---and a most of the way paid off Browning Citori White Lightening 12ga on lay-a-way.

Anyway---My Sako has iron sights--windage adj. only-----What would be a good range to try to see if these need adjusting??

This is my first truely large caliber rifle--but have had experiece with several .338's and still own one--another Sako.

I'm considering putting a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 on my .375---mainly because of the 4 inches of constant eye relief.

Do you think this is too much scope for this gun??? Or should I look at some of the lower powered scopes??

Thanks

OBG

The sights are probably dead on at 100 yds/meters. A 4X scope is a pretty good compromise. I have a Dragunov with a 4X scope and it is calibrated with ball ammunition up to 1300 meters although I have few intentions of trying to employ it at that range. YMMV

I love the Leupold Vari-X III, 2.5-8x36 (with heavy duplex in mine) for big rifles. About 4" of eye relief as I recall.
