Hey all,
Just signed up last night after reading an archived thread on the PX4 where I gained some helpful insight to this weapon. I had it in the type F .40 cal and loved the gun. Everything I had read at the time confirmed I made a good choice.
I recently sold it to buy a 1911. This past week I looked at a used Kimber in the .45 with rosewood grips and was ready to pull the trigger on it so to speak (Damn nice gun I might add!) when I came across a slightly used, like new (100 rounds thru it) PX4 in the .45 Full size Type F (with the night sites my .40 didn't have) and at a good price. I agonized over this decision and after extensive reading here I went with the PX4 again and saved $400 in the process. I just love this gun and it's a better option for CC with the exception many have mentioned with the bat wings! I've read about removing that spring and ball bearing.
Okay, with the rambling out of the way, I have a few questions. Does that remove those bat wings altogether or am I missing something here?
I also have a question concerning trigger pull. The DA at 12 lbs I believe and single at 4? Has anyone here considered or done a trigger mod? What are the pros and cons? Cost? Were you happy with it? I'd like to see the single at 2.6-2.8? Would doing this also affect the DA or is there a way to just do the SA alone? I'm not that concerned with the DA tho a lighter pull there wouldn't be bad either. It's definitely a heavy 12.
Better to just leave it stock?

Sorry for the rambling. I'm interested to hear what some of you have to say on this. Thanks...

I'm just here to say "Welcome to the forum". :) I don't know the answers to your questions though, as I don't own a PX4. Hopefully someone who does will read this thread and chime in.

Welcome. You'll end up with a 1911 eventually. There are a lot of options out there.

PX4, wish I had one. You may want to join the Beretta Forum also, and ask over there.

Thanks guys. The main thing I really want to do has to do with "bat wings". The slimline ones making it a G model is definitely the way to go.
Maybe some day just making the trigger a little more crisp so to speak. Taking any creep out etc. and not mess with making it a hair trigger.

The best way to take care of that heavy and inconsistent trigger is to buy a 1911. I'd suggest a kimber.

Just kidding, welcome! :)

Hey now! I still :banghead: whether I should've have plopped out the extra $400! It really was a tough one to pass on but at present time I couldn't argue with the wife especially when she knew how much I liked the .40 I had.
One of these days I'll have both.
