I picked up some 200gr cast SWC and 230 cast RN am going to load some up tomorrow. Thinking about starting at 4.0 of Bullseye and working up from there.

Any favorite loads using Bullseye from you guys?

I've gone as high as 5.4 grains of Bullesye (a slightly over max load per Alliant) under a plated 200-gr SWC, but normally load 5.0 grains. Lyman 49th max is 6.0 grains.

Your 4.0 sounds a little light. The Alliant website says max is 4.6 for a 200-gr lead bullet. I'd recommend loading only a dozen or so, and firing them from at least two mags, to see if they feed reliably (sometimes SWCs don't) and cycle the slide.

Should be fine. I've gone as low as 3.8gr of BE under a 230gr bullet but 4.2gr is my go to load. 4.2gr under a 200gr SWC is a nice, accurate soft shooting load. The wife loves 'em.

Exactly what you want to do. Your pistol isn't mine and even if they were the same model, my load might not shoot the same for you.

Always work up your own loads. Fingers and eyes are important things to keep.

My favorite load is 4.5g Bullseye under a 230g LRN. It’s light on recoil and accurate enough to take the wings off a fly at 25 yards in my Gold Cup.

Ok first time with cast bullets and 5 out of the twenty I loaded do not case gauge, right at the bottom of the bullet it has a line in the case right where it hangs up in the gauge? Bullet seems straight, not tipped one way or another.

Is it typical that there is that much variation in cast bullets, they are from SNS.

Don't worry about a case gage.

Use the barrel out of your pistol for the gage.

That's all that really matters.

Thanks guys.........I loaded another 30 @4.3 gr of Bull and ended up with five more. I had pulled two barrels and all fit in one barrel, but a few of them were two far out in the other as in picture to the right. I will shoot them out of the one that they fit and carry on. Thanks again.

I use 4.5 of BE in a cast 230g LSWC.
