With dies and components being as scarce as they are presently, I have found myself with a Makarov (9x18), appropriate bullets and brass, but no dies to load 9mm Makarov with.

Is it possible to seat .365 bullets with a 9x19 seating die? I'm not worried about powder drop, sizing or case flaring just yet, but until I can get the proper dies I will have no way to shoot my new pistol for a long time. All help is appreciated!

9mm (9x19) dies will not work for reloading 9x18. The 9x18 (9mm Mak) uses a .365" diameter bullet while the 9x19 (9mm) uses a .356" diameter bullet. Not only that but the 9x18 case is bigger in diameter than the 9x19.

have you checked Lee for a set of dies? mine is Lee, would'nt think 9mm mak dies are unobtainable

Marlin, I've checked everywhere. Everyone is sold out that I can find. Midway has an approximate in stock date of 5/30/13.

If all you lack is the seating die, a 9mm Luger die might work. How are you going to crimp them?

You can also try .38 S&W. I don't know if it'll work or not, but it's close.

I hadn't quite got to the crimping part of things, but I figure if I don't flare the case then there's nothing to crimp. The round headspaces off the mouth, so it should only need a light taper crimp at best.

Well here's to hoping mine take a similar amount of time!
