I bought one back in the mid-late 70's and probably put 10-15,000 rds through it and sold it to a friend. He's used it a lot over tha past 20 years (probably 20,000+ rds) and used it to shoot and kill two robbers a few years ago. I'd say we've got our money's worth out of it.

Greeting's W.A.
I had a Smith & Wesson 39-2 that I purchased
NIB back in about 1972, that I shot up until 84,
when I switched over to the S&W model 459;
without ever having to do anything to it! Since
1988 all of my CCW auto's (including those in
9m/m) wear the SIG-SAUER banner.
I say that because the SIG "Classic P-series"
are aluminum frame weapons also. I don't
think the weapons frame suffers anything
but cosmetic damage from firing.
Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member
