A great pistol. The only rub I have with them is the expensive of magazines compared to the standard tt-33 clones. I did see an ad for new production m57's though so perhaps mags will come down.

The new-production ones seem to be significantly different, though. The old ones had a 1911-style pull-down safety below the slide. The new ones have a PPK-style push safety on the slide. I really don't know why they'd change to that. It's ergonomically inferior for taking off the safety.

Yugo57 here is from Slovenia, so his M57 does not have any sort of added safeties (those are added for import into the US). He does have an added compensator at the front that I've never seen before.

I have had one for a year and a half.I haven't shot it very much at all. I bought 500 new brass from Starline before the panic/Obamas second term. I have dies and 100 Hornady XTP 90 Gr HP for it. The tiny bottleneck cartridge is really a challenge to load, plus the fact that very little data is available. The LE community hates the 762X25 because it will defeat most body armor like it isn't there.I got 2 mags with it and got 2 more since I received it. I paid about $29 & change per mag.I like it because it is thin and easy to carry IWB. I have to get some SD ammo before I think about carrying it for SD.Keep us advised on how you like it.:)

Well, if you don't reload, there's still plenty of ammo out there. Back home I had a full spam can's worth of corrosive Romanian surplus. I never shot any of it, but I had it just in case. I avoid shooting corrosive if I can afford or obtain better. I normally bought S&B or PRVI Partizan / PPU. Wolf has some very nasty hollowpoints, and if you DO reload, Gold Dot bullets can do some disgusting damage. Brass Fetcher's tests show it's way nastier than both 9mm and .45ACP.

Note that it's only FMJ that ignores body armor. The hollowpoints will just pancake. Note that I say "ignores" rather than "defeats" because that's really the best description of what this nasty little round does. It mushrooms to .46 going through, and still gets optimal penetration. It's like being shot with a good 9mm hollowpoint WITHOUT body armor.

I used P-38 mags modded and 4 for $11 each
