Well folks, I did finally buy my little carry revolver tonight. I had considered a few different models, new and used. But, after deliberating and getting feedback from many of you here on the forum, I decided to buy a new shiny S&W model 60 2 1/8" in .357 mag. I really fought off buying the 3" with adjustable sights, I was just getting away from what I really was buying one for, pocket carry.

Now the hunt for a nice set of wood grips, pocket and IWB holster for this little J frame. Any ideas? Looks like I am going to have to step up and buy another digital camera too, evidently my daughter thinks mine is hers. :scrutiny:

Thanks for the help.

Congrat's there Marshall, on your purchase of
a Smith & Wesson "new model" 60 in .357 magnum.
It should make for an excellent shooter; but it may
require a holster for CCW use, as its a tad bit large?
That is why I prefer the "old model" S&W 60 in .38
Special; lighter in weight (19 ozs vs. 23 ozs), frame
difference (regular J vs. J magnum), and a shorter
barrel (2" vs. 2-1/8"). But, if its what you wanted
then I'm happy for you! Enjoy~

Best Wishes,

Nice buy. Jump over to www.pickagrip.com - Don just posted his new shipment of J frame Spegels, and they run the full gamut of what you can find in Cocobolo grains and colors. Cocobolo runs from subdued straight grains to wild stressed patterns, and from orange to deep maroon, with black grain figures. This last batch has them all.
My Js ride in just about everything from shoulder rigs to IWB and for just about every belt position. Best IWB for strong side (so far) is Alessis' WSDT, a slim rig with two of his Talon Clips, one in front and one to the rear of the gun.

Thanks Ala Dan,

I was considering the "old model" but, since I aquired that model 13 .357 I decided to go ahead with the "new model" so I could shoot .38's and .357 out of both. I tried it in my pocket without a pocket holster, the guy was nice enough to let me cruise around with it. It fit nicely and wasn't too heavy, granted it was unloaded. I'll try it both ways and probably carry it both ways too I imagine, depending upon conditions.
