We are the "10%"

Obama keeps talking about how "90%" of the people support what he wants to do against the second amendment. How could we go about showing the rest of the nation how big the actual "10%" really is? I'm thinking kind of along the lines of the "1%" outlaw biker patches you used to see. What about having a day where across the nation everyone goes to work or school wearing a "we are the 10%" armband?

Could this be organized? How? Is this a good idea or a 3:45am harebrained scheme?

I don't think we need to honor such a dishonest talking point with that kinda response. Time would be much better spent educating anyone that buys into that 90% talk with why the bill was rightfully shot down.

Instead of 10%, I proudly wear the epithet LIAR. That is what he calls us now.

He calls us liars, but here is my problem: we are told their efforts are only to protect the Second Amendment and our rights, yet New York, Colorado, Connecticut show us otherwise. The same people supporting endorsing and arguing for the national laws supported, endorsed, and argued for New York, Colorado, and Connecticut. It's the perfect example of New Speak I have ever seen. EVER.

It's like a man showing up to court, bloody knuckles, saying he never beats his wife, or anybody, then shaking his knuckles at the judge and yelling at the judge that he never beats people up, then stepping to the bench, one fist planted on the wood, the other drawn back, and saying he never beats anybody, and don't ever say he does.

New York, Colorado, and Connecticut (not to mention California and Chicago - the latter is a city, I know, but it is not necessarily endemic of all of Illinois) are prime examples of WHAT THEY WANT TO DO nationally and WHAT THEY ARE DOING locally. We are not stupid nor are we blind. This president has lied so many times on so many issues so easily caught that it shows he doesn't care if you see him lie. But he calls us liars? And we are the ones he points the fingers to, calling us liars. We are the bloodied wife who finally stood up, drew her double barreled shotgun and told Mr. Bloody Knuckles to leave. We are the liars because WE stood up and told HIM and his lackeys NO. We put our own reps to the fire and said NO. We, my brothers, are the liars he points to because we are the NRA, GOA, heck The High Road and other forums.

Activism? We MUST keep this up. We cannot assemble our army and march home lest we lost the war.

I couldn't help making a comment when somebody brought up the "90% support expanded background checks" nonsense.

I said that, "Yeah, but I'm part of the 10% that matters.":D

I never saw any factual support for that 90% figure.

I'm sure if you want to--no, need to--find a group of people within which 90% can be persuaded to respond a certain way to a carefully phrased poll question, you can do it.

How about an armband that says, we are part of the 70% MAINSTREAM that believe in freedom.

I am hurt and feel disrespected that our elected officials listened to us yet we are discarded and the Senate is given the credit for this bill getting shot down.

Do they no know how hard we have been fighting? Do they not know that the NRA is made up of AMERICANS like us? Do they not know that WE put them in office and WE will take them out of office just as easily?

WE are AMERICANS and it is time that the Liberal Press and the Democrats realize this.

They just use random numbers to support thier cause, or quote and twist what they want.
They will poll New York City or San Francisco, then act like it is representative of the country.
They will poll with leading statements where they make one answer obviously the correct choice and then claim the response meant what they wanted it to.
"Do you support actions to curb violence and reduce harm to our children?"

And I keep hearing them talk about the NRA like they have some corporate interests or hidden agenda. Like it is some lone entity acting on its own behalf.
When in reality they depend more on individuals for funding and support than most lobbying groups.
When it is the voice of millions spending money from thier own pocket to support a cause they believe in, they will act like it represents few.
Yet when it is the opposite, like some anti-gun groups with minimal members, and those willing to spend big bucks primarily a small number of wealthy individuals, they act as if it is the will and support of a broad base.

Lies and deceit.

They like to say things like "90%" because if they can convince some people that everyone else is doing it, then maybe they should do it too (or at least not interfere.)
So they claim the herd is doing what they wish it was in an attempt to get more of the herd to actually do what they want.

In all reality on most issues the percentages that care enough to put time and money into a cause are a fraction of the total population.
On the issue of firearms there is far more willing to actually invest time and money into gun rights than into increased gun restrictions.
While the anti agenda depends more on big money from a smaller number of dedicated sources like George Soros and Michael Bloomberg.

This country is so polarized...a claim that 90% of the population support ANY issue is absurd.

Our CiC is the master of propaganda. Probably works well in Chicago among the masses...but not so much in DC.

As I told my 13 year old daughter last night as we were watching the president's petulant rant,...

90% of the American people wouldn't agree on pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving!

Jenny,

Could you, instead, be talked into a ball cap that reads "STAND AND FIGHT"?

Because a few of us already have a supplier lined up.... :D

TexanScott - nice idea, but lots of us aren't hat people, especially indoors. Some schools and workplaces also don't allow them. Plus, hats and T-shirts are kind of cliche at this point, and if you work in a place where business or business casual attire is required, you basically can't wear it. I also don't think they really get as much notice as they did a few years ago. Plus, I think that armbands kind of go back to the Vietnam protest era (blame my mom LOL)

So maybe your supplier could make "Stand and Fight" armbands or bracelets?

You know, that's a VERY good idea, actually... something as simple as a rubber "Stand and Fight" bracelet. I've been all over the NRA website, and I don't think they have one.

They SHOULD! This will be suggested, thank you!

Hats, t-shirts and bracelets are too commonplace now adays and get little attention. Arm bands are quicker to grab attention. They are 'out of place'.

The traitors' "90%" lie is about as truthfull as his " America is no longer a Christian Nation" comment.

What a total turd :barf:
