Is a part missing from my revolver?

Hey again everyone,

I was looking at (read: Obsessively cleaning) my S&W 25-9 (45 colt).

I noticed something weird though. When I cock the gun to fire in single action, the firing pin looks like it is missing a pin or rivet that should be holding it onto the hammer.

The firing pin is set into a groove in the hammer, and it looks like it should be secured with a pin or rivet.

But I can see right through where I think this rivet should go!

So, Am I missing a part, or is the hole supposed to be here. Is the rivet hollow?

If you guys need clarification, please let me know.

L

It's supposed to be a hollow pin. You're good.

Normal.

You have a hollow rivet retaining the firing pin.
That's the way they used to make 'em.
If the hollow rivet wasn't there, neither would your firing pin be there.
