Does anyone know anything about the old fashioned shooting galleries? I am very interested in acquiring one, but can find very little info.

I've heard about these and seen photos....most were reactive cast iron targets (ducks, rabbits, circles, etc) that moved around the outer edge of a turning wheel. Some were attached to a moving chain going from left to right. When the target was hit they would fall over, as the chain made it's return the target hung upside down and automatically reset via gravity. Chain was driven by a small electric motor, some had a variable speed control to make it more challenging for experienced shooters.

These would be fairly simple to build for someone with welding skills.

Crossman or Daisy made something similar years ago for air rifles...it was called a "Running Boar". Target moved back and forth on a track with cables and pulleys. A paper target of a Boar, complete with scoring rings could be attached with small clips. Object was to teach the shooter how to lead a target.
