I do believe I've seen some of his events before, even if his name wasn't recognizable off-hand.

Dang that's sad news. The man was a true Showman.

April 26, 2013, 08:11 PM
Sad to hear that, I really enjoyed watching him shoot. Now that is two from "Impossible Shots" TV that have passed in the last year.

April 26, 2013, 08:13 PM
What a terrific fellow, I saw him first on "History Channel". A magnificent ambassador for our sport.

April 26, 2013, 08:14 PM
Has anybody seen anything official on this? I saw it on another forum too but can't find anything else about it.

April 26, 2013, 08:27 PM
George Jones and Tom Knapp in one day?

Oh man. I flags are gonna be flying half mast...

April 26, 2013, 08:36 PM
what a bummer! Sad - very sad.

April 26, 2013, 08:43 PM
I can't find anything on bing search about it.

I do believe I've seen some of his events before, even if his name wasn't recognizable off-hand.

He certainly was a master of his craft.

Thanks ID-shooting,I've seen so many fake obituaries that I check the news pages for verification before I'll believe it. Thanks for the verification and good-bye to TK. We have
lost a great spokesman/exhibitor.

April 26, 2013, 08:55 PM
Thanks for the link ID-shooting, The shooting world lost a good man.

April 26, 2013, 08:58 PM

April 26, 2013, 09:07 PM
Damn, sorry to hear that.

April 26, 2013, 09:10 PM
Saw him perform live twice as a kid. Second time I got to stand next to him and throw eggs up in the air for him to shoot.

He was a great guy and would take the time to talk to anyone.

April 26, 2013, 09:13 PM
My brother met him at an exhibition shoot, where he graciously was signing autographs and shotgun shells after demonstrating all kings of Benelli shotguns. One trick was shooting aspirin out of the sky. When my brother got up the line, he asked Tom if he would sign an aspirin (it was obvious that Tom was getting tired even signing shotgun shells). Tom looked up from signing, and was about to go off on my brother, saw he was putting him on, and had a good laugh at it, as they both knew there were idiots out there that probably WOULD ask for an autographed aspirin. A great shot, and a down to earth guy with a good sense of humor.

Got to meet him and shake his hand a couple times in years past. He was a good shot and showman, one of the best and not only with a shotgun. RIP Tom Knapp.

April 26, 2013, 09:23 PM
well that sucks... I'm sure he's showing St. Pete how to break clays!!! :)

April 26, 2013, 09:30 PM
Tom Knapp passed away today..........what a great marksman and ambassador for the shooting sports.....I will miss him.

April 26, 2013, 09:30 PM
That is a loss to the shooting community. I have enjoyed so many of his shows when they were broadcast. What impressive talent. R.I.P. I'll have to go through my Shootist's Prayer for him.

April 26, 2013, 09:41 PM

April 26, 2013, 09:44 PM
He broke Herb Parsons' record of clays thrown in the air and shot before they hit the ground (I believe 10). Great exhibition shooter.

April 26, 2013, 09:45 PM
RIP, so sad. When I first got into shotgunning, I watched all his Benelli videos and he was a great inspiration.

April 26, 2013, 10:35 PM
He was great. RIP sir.

April 26, 2013, 11:41 PM
I always enjoyed watching his videos and wish I had the chance to see him in person. Rest In Peace.

April 27, 2013, 12:21 AM
That is a terrible loss. I saw the guy shoot through the hole in the middle of washers as well as shoot holes in the center of pennies using a 22 rifle.

April 27, 2013, 12:53 AM
George Jones passed as well..

All around sad-day :(

April 27, 2013, 01:16 AM
While we should always mourn those who pass away, lets take this opportunity to keep inviting our younger generations out to the range for the first time. The next great may just be the kid you teach how to handle his first gun. Pass it on, as that is the best legacy a man can leave.

April 27, 2013, 01:24 AM
Saddened to see such an embassdor for our sport pass on.

April 27, 2013, 01:27 AM
oh man sad indeed. rip

April 27, 2013, 04:35 AM
he was a down to earth man,not acting the part. i met him once and he was even friendier in person, RIP. eastbank.

April 27, 2013, 07:09 AM
He had such charisma, I love to watch his performances. RIP, he truly was a great ambassador for what we love to do.

April 27, 2013, 07:25 AM
RIP indeed. That is very sad.

April 27, 2013, 07:59 AM
My wife fell in love with him just last weekend, watching one of the shows on the History Channel. She just loved his voice.

He will be missed.

April 27, 2013, 08:34 AM
Great shooter, even greater individual......
"Only the Good Die Young"

April 27, 2013, 09:01 AM
What a shame. I've seen his interviews and he seemed like an absolutely nice guy. R.I.P. sir and thank you for your contributions to this country's shooting community sir.

April 27, 2013, 09:08 AM
RIP. Mr. Knapp. His talents were enjoyed by so many and very much appreciated. A true Gentleman and Ambassador for our sport!

April 27, 2013, 09:31 AM
R.I.P. Tom......................

April 27, 2013, 09:44 AM
So long to a true inspiration. My sons and I marveled at his ability and his low key humor.

May the clays fly for him in the Great Beyond.

April 27, 2013, 10:45 AM
There was no one else like him. He was a true gentlemen with unparalleled skills, and he never let that make him egotistical.

We have lost a true ambassador for the sport.

First Bob Munden, now the Possum and Tom Knapp.
Man, all my favorites are dying. Tom was the man.

Very sad. He was just plain fun to watch. There wasn't a challenge he wouldn't take on and almost always excel at it.

RIP, Tom.

April 27, 2013, 12:51 PM
I am going to miss Knapp's shows. He always had time to talk with audience members after his shows- how sad to see that he is gone.

April 27, 2013, 12:57 PM

I saw him on TV several times and from what I saw a better gentleman could not be found. A true class act. A man who loved what he did and wanted others to enjoy it as well. With George Jones passing as well you really have to wonder "Who's gonna fill their shoes?". RIP Mr. Jones and Mr. Knapp.

April 27, 2013, 05:30 PM

I do believe I've seen some of his events before, even if his name wasn't recognizable off-hand.
Very impressive - ten hand-thrown clays for a World Record.

I sincerely hope the man is resting easy right now.

April 27, 2013, 05:33 PM
Does anyone know how old Tom was?

April 27, 2013, 05:45 PM
Wow thats very sad. Tom was a great showman as well as a shooter. Maybe the last of his kind. That mellow sing song delivery of his voice was a little 'PT Barnum' but he was a lot of fun to listen to.

April 27, 2013, 06:04 PM
Mr. Knapp was at the NRA annual meetings in St. Louis in 2012.
He was as approachable and personable as you see in his videos. He was a marvelous shot and an excellent promoter of what can be done with firearms, esp. the shotgun.
Rest easy Mr. Knapp. And thanks for the shows.

April 27, 2013, 06:47 PM
I only wish I could have seen him perform live. RIP Tom.

April 27, 2013, 08:43 PM
God Speed.....

April 27, 2013, 09:22 PM
There are some that can just never be equaled. I'm going to go home after work and shoot my Benelli in tribute to Tom. It was his show that made me buy one. And I never regretted it. Thanks Tom..... You will truely be missed.

April 27, 2013, 10:46 PM
Sad day for the shooting sports. He seemed like a genuine guy and was all about fun with a gun.

April 28, 2013, 12:51 PM
Oh man what a loss. He was a great shotgunner. RIP

April 28, 2013, 04:59 PM
Sorry to read of his passing. The man was an artist with a long gun and a crowd.

April 29, 2013, 12:52 PM
I remember watching his fantastic Benelli exhibition shooting video. Sad news :(

April 29, 2013, 12:54 PM
rip tom knapp

April 29, 2013, 12:56 PM
I didn't know Bob Munden passed away at the end of last year either :(

April 29, 2013, 02:17 PM
RIP Tom.

April 29, 2013, 03:07 PM
Tom is one of the best shooting entertainers I have seen.. I love his voice and "road-show" style of presentation. My young sons enjoy watching his vids too. ..RIP mr. Knapp

April 30, 2013, 07:42 AM
My brothers watched all the shooting shows with Tom Knapp on History Channel with me any time they came on. Every time I see a show with him it reminds me of time spent with my brothers before they were killed. Condolences to his family and RIP Tom Knapp. This is a sad day for sure, he will be missed.
