Hello everyone-

Can an ACOG (TA01) be mounted on a removable handle? Is the zero repeatable? I would like the ability to change out the optics for different three gun scenarios.

Thanks in advance

The ACOG can be mounted on a removable carry handle - though some brands seem to be a little less strict about adhering to specs and those may not fit as well.

Zero should be repeatable to within half MOA this way; but make sure you use blue loctite on the ACOG mounting screw - otherwise vibration from shooting will cause the screw to loosen and zero to wander.

I guess i'm missing something. Why would you want to add another components tolerances to the chain when you can just mount directly to the flattop? Use a QR mount or even the dual thumbscrew Trijicon mount and you can quickly dismount and pop something else on. My TA01NSN mounts much more solidly to my flatop than it ever did to my colt CH.

I might add that some of the detachable handles I've seen are poorly made, so you might just be fighting an uphill battle. I'd suggest the ARMS mounts for repeatability.

I also have to warn of poor cheekweld. You'll be sticking your chin on the receiver to look thru the ACOG way up on the carry handle. Even if you can see it clearly, like with a dot, your accuracy will suffer. They make good QD mounts for ACOGs and Compacts, so why not just go with that?

If you are going into battle, there is also a school of thought (from some of those who think about this sort of stuff for a living) that the higher your sights are on the rifle, the more likely you are to get shot in the head. Not a good thing.
