I saw a fellow range member show up with this (http://www.zag.co.il/products_inner3.asp?Super_id=1&Sub_Super_id=2&product_line_id=41&Sub_Sub_Super_id=8&this=491), the Stanley Mobile Work Center. At only $29, I just had to have one for myself. With a little alteration, room for long-arms could be affixed to the back. However, if you take only handguns with you on most occasions, it'll have more than enough room.
BTW, it looks just slightly different from the pic in the link, but you'll recognize it among the other tool-boxes when you see it.

I got one of those.....
It holds a lot of stuff. Too much for me.
I quit taking it the range it got relegated to permanent storage in the shop.

Okay, I'm in. Right now, I have three or four boxes of stuff that I have to lug around in my truck whenever I want to go shooting, and most of that stuff is there just in case. I have multiple sets of eyes and ears, timer, lubes, cleaners, stapler, targets, pasters, target stand, rods, jigs, wrenches, holsters, and a bunch more.
What I particularly like is that this could serve as a self-contained firearms center even when it's parked at the house. Instead of running around the abode looking for that thing, or trying to find it in one box when it's really in another, I could have every single thing right in one spot.
And am I the only one that sees that tilt-out lower drawer as a perfect storage bin for pistols? I'm imagining it getting set up with some type of rack so that when you open the bin, all the pistols are presented grip first. Kinda like that wall safe they sell on the 'net. Would that be sooo cool, or what?
Might just have to take a trip to Home Depot, Sears and Lowes to see who has the best price and style. It would definitely help alleviate some of the clutter around here.

I shot with a guy two weeks ago at Richmond and he had that cart and it worked great for him . 29 bucks is a steal I would have thought close to a hundred.

I've got something very similar. Mine is almost like a large Rubbermaid tub with a tool tray in the top. It too has the same kind of wheels and an extendable handle.
The only complaint I have is that the wheels are too small for use on non-paved surfaces. Our range has a gravel parking lot which is prone to getting some serious potholes. It's quite a pain to drag in from there.
When it warms up a little bit, I'm going to try making a custom cart using the wheels and some pieces from an old golf pull-cart.

And am I the only one that sees that tilt-out lower drawer as a perfect storage bin for pistols? At the bottom front there is a tilt-out pocket. It's retained by strong elastic cord. It works for small bulls-eyes like Shoot-n-C, but that's about it. Your pistols will have to gun inside either the upper or lower tub.

:D
I actually saw a similar tool storage device being used for tools ! This was a Bio- Med tech . I was shocked!
This kind of stuff is designed for shooters, bass fisherman, you know outdoors types. Being the responsible shooter - and in keeping with The Highroad I "educated him" on the "proper use" of the thing.
"Where do you think I got the idea it might actually work for - well work?" ;)
His brother is a sales rep for a drug company...uses one as well.
Whew! I was relieved. :D

I saw Victor's set-up in person yesterday when we went to the range...I gotta say, it is trick!
Where is that dusty old Home Depot gift card from Christmas?:scrutiny:

After seeing this thread, I decided to check Lowe's for them. I ended up getting one real similiar, just not Stanley, for $27 + tax. It holds quite a bit of stuff. I'm liking it.

Why go with something small when the big kahuna is right there?
