My first match with a Glock

This was the Utah Defensive Pistol League's ICORE/handgun match (ICORE if you want, handgun if you don't want to shoot a revolver).

I had all my SIG P226 stuff packed and ready to go last night and then went to pack up my ammo and realized... uhhh... where's all my 9mm? :uhoh:

Either I'd misplaced it (unlikely) or I'd shot it all up at the last match (likely), so I had to shoot either .45 or .40, and I didn't feel like stressing out over my precious .45 brass... so I picked .40. That meant I'd have to shoot my Glock 23C (which has a Storm Lake barrel so I can shoot my lead reloads in it).

I'm not particularly enamored of the Glock grip angle (they point high for me) or the trigger or the sights, but I did reasonably well with it in spite of having few hours of experience and muscle memory built up with it.

Beautiful day, and stages were all steel, no paper to tape, so it went pretty quick and was a lot of fun.

Results posted: I placed 10th out of 54 in the HiCap division... took 2nd on a couple of stages (but twenty-somethingth on a couple as well). There are some FAST shooters out there.

21st out of 105 based on overall time regardless of division. I usually place somewhere in the top 15th-20th percentile so that's about right. Pity I'm not getting any faster, though.

I guess at this point I should be happy I'm not getting slower... :D

Not too bad, man. They say slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Maybe there's something to that. :)

Very nice shooting. Beautiful day to be burning up all that lead.

Jeez, a 20 second par time on that 3rd (?) stage is not much time at all. Good shooting on it!

Thanks! I ended up with a 1 second time on that stage (you get minus one second for each target you hit... if you clear the course--nobody did--you score minus 4 seconds). Best time of the match was -3 seconds... only one guy did that. A couple got -1.

LOL... found my missing 700 rounds of 9mm. Maybe I should reorganize my den?
