Hello All,

Well I got some Rocky Mountain 230 Gr RN bullets in for 45 ACP. So I loaded up a few rounds with the only powder I have available to me at the moment, which is Unique.

I tried a few different loads...

5.0 grains - FPS` 723, 700 and 771

5.2 grains - FPS` 751, 763 and 773

Do these seem correct to you guys?

Hornady manual states that 800 FPS is a good target load for 45 ACP. So i'm thinking of bumping up to 5.3/5.4.

Yes those sound correct. I have a nice load at 5.6gr of Unique behind a 230gr plated bullet in my 1911.

Looks pretty close to me. I normally use 4.2 to 4.5 of bullseye for my 45 loads.
The few hundred that i have done with unique i was using 5.5 with zero 230gr RN (according to my log database)

What powder are you using now? :Unique used to be my "universal" powder. Now I use almost nothing but LongShot.

For range work and general shooting fun I use WST. For high performance, high velocity loads I use Silhouette.

That's a nice load.

Doesn't need to go faster for target shooting. As long as it cycles the gun and hits the target it's a good load. Anything more is just wasting powder on extra recoil and noise!
