Got a new treat for y'all

This is (I think, please help me verify) a 1917 Colt New service which was originally a .45ACP revolver using moon clips.... I think..... not really sure what variant.

She was uncovered by a guy who was digging a new foundation for his house in Vermont, I wish I could get more info but the guy who found her is dead as she has been hanging on the wall of a gunshop as a curiosity for a very, very long time.

This is going to really push the limits of what can be restored.

Oh and subscribe to my channel, it helps keep me motivated and working on projects

Cool actually!

There are some dealers on Gunbroker that would advertize it as: " a 90% gun" :scrutiny: :p :uhoh:

Naw, that would be LNIB and command a premium.

Seriously though, along with the big museum in Cody, Wyoming there was a smaller one that specialized in guns and swords that have been dug up out of the ground. This looks like a good candidate.

Yep, it's a New Service and probably was a 1917. When newer it would have looked something like this;

Very likely that it's a Colt New Service model, but you would need the cylinder to confirm it was a U.S. 1917 model. In those the cylinder was shorter them usual to make room at the back for the 1/2 moon clips.

Post some pictures when you have it restored and looking like new.

I don't do cosmetic restoration ;)

But functional is occasionally do-able

Hey, that 1911 has Glock's new tacticool mall ninja surface texture.
It commands a price premium, but only when applied to Tupperware.

I would subscribe to your youtube channel but... I don't know how to do that.

I am looking forward to seeing this in working condition in a few months! Please take lots of pictures!

I just read your entire thread on that 1911 yesterday.

I'll be watching this one, but it could be a little dicier pulling the trigger than the 1911. But AJAX22, I think you have historical basis for your work:

Keep up the good work, and the superb entertainment for certain elder statesmen on the forum... ;)

Well, it is appears to be a New Service, but earlier than a Model 1917. The Model 1917 and later New Service models have the swell at the rear of the barrel; that one does not.
