Lots of time on my hands today. Snowing all day. Just took this picture of my
Match grade custom made 32 cal barrel. Bore .320. Groove .340. Grooves are
.010 deep. Twist 1-16 This is about 4 years old. I use Honorady "0" buck
Which measures .320-.324 and a .010 patch.

If you take the human element out of it, I really think this pistol will keep all shots on a dime.

Nice photography! The crown on that barrel is just beautiful.

Congratulations on the fine performance, too.

Great pictures and great shooting.

Hasn't Hornady stopped selling 0 buck in bags? I would love to have a bag of it myself as I am sure not saving money on lead by cutting up 0 buck shells for my .31 revolver.

Yes, but there is another source for "0" buck. The barrel is a Ed Rayle.

Don't leave me hanging here. What is that other source?

Phil, if you add my human element to it, it would get basketball sized groups.;)

I shot a 99 at the Nationals a couple years ago. Wife shot two 99's back to back
Last year. My health has not been good this past 6 months. I think my shooting
days are over. Problems seeing and walking. Still going to Friendship next month
though. Wife's going to have to do most all the driving. 10 hours. Might be our
last trip. It's been a good run.

That's some nice shooting. I've managed a 99 and a 99-4X at the N-SSA nationals with revovler, but never made it out to Friendship.

Phil,

What do you think the smallest caliber you've seen used up there is? Something close to .30", or smaller? .25" maybe?

Thanks

I always shoot next to a guy who is a master shooter and he uses a .30 cal.
Back a few years ago some were using pistols that shot 22 bullets like they
Load in 22 long rifle. They were buying them from CCI 500 to a bag. I can get
22 barrel for mine. Thought about it some. The guy who shoots the .30 was
Using buckshot and 20 grs powder. I remarked last year to him that it was
Going about 1500 fps. He said the wind didn't bother him at 50 yds any.
Will see him next month. If I were to say what caliber is used most, it would be .36 followed
Closely by .32 40 years ago it would have been 45.

It might be worth pointing out that the dominant calibers in the repro division of the MLAIC Kuchenreuter match (single-shot percussion pistol) are .36, followed by .33 and .45. I was doing arms inspection at the last Worlds, and it seemed like half the shooters are using the Feinwerkbau underhammer.
