Your Mosin Opinion Please

Hello all,

I am currently at an impasse as what to do with my M44 Mosin. I'm in the market for another rifle but because of my money situation, I have to get rid of something first. Part of me wants to get rid of it so that I may get something else, but another part of me doesn't want to in case I can't get another one some day. I already have an M38 so that satisfies my Mosin need, but I still feel like I should hold on to the 44.

-1944 Izhevsk manufacture (has arrow inside of triangle)
-4230 on receiver, but 230 on bolt, butt stock, and magazine (is this #'s matching?)
-still in Cosmoline, unfired by me
-nice shiney bore, non-counterbored
-the only spot of rust is a little on the buttstock
-bolt cycles nicely

I have it listed for $250 firm so the ultimate question is for this price, should I just hold on to it and keep scrimping and saving for my new rifle, or just let this Mosin go? Thank you for your opinion.

If it's a 1944 M44 still in cosmo and not counter-bored, you need to hang on to it.

Regards,

Josh

Bigdaa, sorry, but I'm looking for a local sale. That's why I didn't post in the sale section on the forum. However I got mine from classicfirearms and they still have them in stock. Here's the link:

Sell it to me. I'm up for a 9 hour drive :D

Off load something else and keep the MN. Make it a heritage rifle after you fire a few shots through it.

M44s are underrated but these were the rifles in the hands of Red ARmy (even women soldiers ) in the final assault of Germany and as Berlin fell in 1945. The final hours of the Third Reich ended, and the M 44 together with the M 91.30s and PPshs played a pivotal role in Germany's defeat . And it saw action too in Korea and Nam. In fact most of the Chicoms supplied the NVA and VC with their own version of M44. It is that good except for looks.
The concussion alone will inject fear in the heart of the enemies.
