Here are some pics of my new 416...

I have a correct set of Stevens sights for it, but mounted a Redfield International rear and Olympic front and see how it shoots. It came set up for the Redfield sights. Haven't gotten to the range with it yet.

The wood and metal are in very good condition.

Congrats..looks like it ought to be quite a shooter. It's hard to beat those old-school target rifles. Over the years I've had a few of the old military trainers and some of them could really keep the rounds right there on the bullseye.

Happy shootin...

Thanks, az

I like these old military trainers myself. Many of them are amazingly accurate. I'll post a range report when I can.

Unless it is stamped US Property it is not a military trainer.

Regardless of what you call it, it was a medium priced small bore competition rifle. It was meant to be used in small bore matches. These rifles are very accurate with good triggers that met the 3-4 lb match requirements of the era.

I would to see more pictures of the mounting base for the Redfield sight. The original sight is not as mechanically good as an Olympic or International, and I am curious to know if the base is original aftermarket, or something that was modified.
