After considerable research, finally broke down, got one, and am very impressed with it. SN puts it at 1941 mfg. and has walnut stock with ID tag under butt plate. Top of tang stamped 53, which means it was rearsenaled in 1953 and stamp on barrel shank indicates it was rebarreled in that year. bore is almost pristine, rifling crisp and mirror bright, butt stock is only moderately beaver chewed.

I bought a Swiss Products clamp on scope mount for it and have an old Weaver Micro-Trac K1.5-1 steel body scope in great shape with super clear optics. I havenít used the scope for 25-30 years, but remember it has a nice wide field of view and was capable of very fast target acquisition. The old K series Weavers can take severe recoil with no ill effects and even 1.5 power optics will be better than iron sights with these old eyes.

Ordered 440 rounds of GP11 7.5x55 1979 Swiss milsurp ammo.

You'll love that rifle for many years to come. The GP-11 shoots very well to boot. Nice looking rifle!

There's currently a crop of outstanding surplus bayonets for those on the market, I suggest you get one ASAP before they're gone. Those Swiss bayonets are works of art themselves, very impressive for a blade that goes on a rifle to poke people with. Midway has them in their current flyer. I have two, one for each of my K31's.

nice score. I've yet to shoot my pair....soon, I hope. Taking them apart...its clear there was solid engineering behind them even down to the design of the screws. Impressive.
