Best current deal on a scope?
I'm in the market for a decent rifle scope. Any good deals to be had right now? Looking to spend $100-$300 and use it for a 308 bolt action for paper and hunting. Looking for good sales on scopes.

If you like Nikon scopes this is a good deal.

I think the Burris is a much better scope and well worth the extra money.

If you can still find a Zeiss Conquest 3-9X40 they are offering them at great prices. 4-5 years ago they were $550. They dropped to about $400 for a while. They have been discontinued and replaced with the Zeiss Terra scope. I've seen Conquests priced at under $300, but everyone I can find is sold out now.

Not on sale, but a Leupold VX-2 made after January 2012 is the most scope you'll buy for the money. Leupold upgraded the VX-2's at that time. For around $300 you get the old VX-3 technology and lense coatings. A comparable 2011 VX-3 sold for close to $500.

Look at Redfields (made by Leupold). I've traded in most of my Burris scopes for them. Check ebay, you can find loads of good scopes.

Weaver grand Slam Tactical 3-10X at MidwayUSA, $299. Google it. There are lots of great reviews about this scope.

I have owned Nikon, Bushnell, Leopold, and Redfield, all in the $120-$300 range. Here is my take.
Leopold VXII: Love the glass, easy range of full light, love the great eye relief on harder kicking rifles, HELLA FINE SCOPE!
Nikon Prostaff/Buckmaster BDC: Without question the best value of the bunch I still have three of them on my current rifles two Pro Staffs and one Buckmaster, also great glass, low entery price, love the easy to read BDC. I shoot Nikons more then any other including on my hardest kicking rifle, and I have never had to move the zero on any of them.
Redfield Revolution: I bought this because I was told it was the same as the VXII but that is not the case, nice scope but I was a little let down with the glass quality, I use my Leopold or Nikons to see where my Redfeild is hitting on the target, the difference in quality is that noticeable.
Bushnell Banner DOA: Never again, put one on my 7mm Rem Mag and it's lack of eye releif get's painful real quick, busted my nose on the first shot, even on a lower intensity cartridge I would much rather spend the extra $20 and get a Nikon, they just have better glass.

FWIW, I recently bought a sightron s1 hunter and a burris fullfield 2 off opticsplanet. I like the sightron a lot more.

you might check out natchezss.com and see what they have. Then check and see if anybody is running rebates. nikon has a promotion http://www.nikonpromo.com/ and weaver has rebates on their tactical scopes right now. http://www.weaver-mounts.com/downloads/2013_Weaver_TargetVarmint_Jan1_March31.pdf

then there are also used scopes down in the for sale section of this forum (and other forums).

I found a Nikon Monarch on sale for under 300 a year ago. It was really nice. I have recently used Vortex and I am very happy with them.

Leupold is always a good choice.

Leupold, Burris, Nikon -- there are many out there. I lean toward Leupold, though I own only one of them and two Burris, simply because of the no-hassle, forever warranty combined with the very good optics. My Burris scopes have good optics, too, or I'd swap them out for Leupold.
