I been looking at buying a .44 mag carbine and was thinking about a Marlin, last week, a gun dealer told me that since Remington started building them, there seem to be some issues with this model. anyone out there have one of these newer models and what issues if any have yall had with them?

Mine told me the same thing. It's a dirty shame.

They've had poorly mated wood & steel, sloppy machining, canted front sights, sloppy front sight dovetails with air between base & barrel, rough actions, and feeding problems.
Hopefully Remington's brought them back up to snuff.
In the past couple years I've seen good & bad in new samples.

The consensus at Marlin-Owners is that Remington has not 'brought them up to snuff' on a consistent basis yet...

I had issues with the 1895 I purchased in the summer of 2011.
