Here is S&W's website http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Category4_750001_750051_757955_-1_757781_757781_image#http%3A%2F%2Fwww.smith-wesson.com%2Fwebapp%2Fwcs%2Fstores%2Fservlet%2FCategoryOnlyResultsDisplayView%3FpageSize%3D16%26pageView%3Dimage%26catalogId%3D750051%26top_category%3D757781%26parent_category_rn%3D757781%26beginIndex%3D0%26categoryId%3D757955%26categoryId%3D757955%26langId%3D-1%26storeId%3D750001%26filterResults%3D%26useFilter%3D%26identifier%3D1369267377529

Nope not the Pro Series just a M&P 40L.It's a special run for law enforcement with the over-run sold to the public.

This thread on the S&w Forum may prove enlightening.

If it is anything like the one I saw a couple of years ago, it is just like the M&P9L. The only difference, from the FS, was the longer barrel and slide; the difference from the Pro is the different sear, striker block and sight set

Yeah - Buds had a supply of them about 18 months or so ago (apparently an overrun from a LE contract).

It's just the standard M&P with the 5" barrel - no upgrades on the sights or sear.

These (and the 9L, which I have) were particularly liked by a lot in the competition world. Most people there were replacing the sights with their own and installing the Apex sear (which most like better than the S&W Pro sear) anyways, so buying a Pro series gun was paying for several upgrades that you'd end up immediately replacing.

The L series guns just have the 5" barrel that people want and you can do whatever else you want with it yourself.

I think this was a large part of why S&W discontinued them.

Yes, the 9L sales really cut into the Pro series when the Apex parts hit the market.

An Apex equipped 9L has a much better trigger than a Pro Model...and this was before the advent of the FSS.

For a while, the 9L was selling for more than the Pro as demand was higher
