I carry my Walther P99 almost everywhere I can carry legally. Once I upgrade to a larger caliber (hopefully sometime next year), I'll carry that gun as well.

I carry my G27, but I really haven't had my CCW long enough to cause wear marks. I carry in a Sidearmor so I don't think it will cause as much wear as leather. I also wipe-er' down frequently with a CLP cloth followed with a silicone cloth. :)

My G29 has that nice, warn in look. I have fired well over 20k rounds through it in the 2 years I have owned it.

All of my guns get fired quite a bit. My shotguns really seem to get a workout, since I enjoy shooting them the most.

I carry a Para-Ordnance C7-45 LDA daily. I don't worry about wear since being stainless steel it is easy to buff out minor blemishes, and I really don't care if it isnt perfect as long as it shoots when I pull the trigger and the bullet goes in the K5

It's rare to be able to legally carry here in CA. I can't so I don't. On the plus side, it keeps my guns looking new and pretty. :p

My carry piece is stainless steel, it has a bit of blemish on one side from being in my right front pocket everyday of the week.

I often carry a stainless Mod 60 LS and it looks like new. I take it when out for walks every morning and when out quail hunting (for snakes, etc.) Does not get any abuse.

It's definitely been carried.
I keep touching up the parkerizing on my Officer's ACP, otherwise it'd look more like the Kahr.

Here's my carry gun, which has been carried for nearly 4 years. In fact the old holster wore out, and this photo shows my new-at-the-time OWB High Noon. No noticeable wear in photo, but the bottom of the trigger guard does have some shiny spots from insertion into the holster.

But if I had one, I could show you a Hi Power and G23 that both need reparkerizing, and a worn bead blasted 640-1. OTOH, there is really nothing wrong with honest wear :)....

Oh, yeah. . .I pack it a lot. But being stainless, and carried in a nice suede holster or sometimes in soft cotton in a fanny pack, it doesn't show a lot of wear.
Now, my blue Colt .45 SAA is another story. It shows many years of holster wear.

Did you ever see the movie "Dogs of War"? Oh yes- I carry, along with guns near the door, and in the fridge, and in the bathroom and even on the garage bench. In the car, in the briefcase, and in the wintercoat.
:p
I usually carry the 239 sig in 40 S&W or the P-99 in 9mm. When my clothing permits, I carry a 1911 style.
My Ed Brown Custom Classic is a favorite for carry.
This is not to say I don't have a bunch of vault queens, I do. But I do have daily users also.
And the one in the ice box.....;)

Kimber Compact CDP most every day. Variety of holsters - BladeTech paddle, Fobus Roto-Paddle, Galco Summer Special, Sparks #60 TK OWB, and sometimes just Mexican. No real discernable wear on it as yet.
Just gave a digital camera to the Mrs. for Christmas so maybe I'll post on one of those "show us yer gun" threads that pop up every so often.

I wear mine everyday, and it shows. Its going to show wear and tear, no matter what you carry it in. Face it, its going to get beat up, especially if you are active. This Commander started out as a blued gun. Sweat and leather dont mix, especially in SE PA in the summer. It didnt take long for it to rust, even being wiped down a couple of times daily. Once leather is wet, it stays that way, unless you have a holster for each day. Its been hard chormed and has held up pretty well since I went to a Kydex holster, but it still needs to be stripped and gone over on a regular basis.

Carry mine all the time when Im home in Az. Glock 19 doesnt wear too much in a Kydex holster. Comp-Tac undercover works for me. I carry in a Gould & Goodrich leather belt holster in the winter and it seems to be wearing the slide down a little but who needs a show pistol when its for self defense?

Imagine a well worn parkerized SA gov't 1911. That's my primary.
Imagine a Kahr MK40 I could never get LNIB prices for; that's my secondary.
Come to think of it, even my safe guns look pretty well used.
I guess that;s because they are. :)

After a couple of blued Colt's and Springfields started showing wear inside of 6 months of carry, I've switched completely to stainless. If I ever switch back to a blued piece for carry it'll be a coated stainless.
Otherwise, a Kimber SS Pro Carry 4" in a Safariland 5181 is my constant companion.

I don't typically carry as I live in a state where that is illegal. However, I have carried my Bersa in a front pocket holster on a couple occasions when I was more worried about going where I had to go when I had to go there unprotected more than I was worried about being caught (doesn't happen often). When I had it my Taurus 605 came out with me twice I think (not much I know). I do carry some (many alternate) of my guns in a holster around the house and I do occasional holster drills for when I move/should MD become CCW/for the occasional times I ignore the law.
My Bersa is almost perfect (the slide is blue the frame is nickel) and it spends a lot of time in my front pocket around the house. My S&W 65LS is almost perfect (matte stainless). My Charles Daly 1911 has quite a bit of holster wear from the nylon hosters and a nick in the finish from when I used a kydex holster around the house (I kinda like it looking a bit worn like that- I like blue guns that are either high polished beauties or a bit worn with some character). My CZs are pretty much perfect (the polycoat finish works wonders). My Colt Police Positive Special bluing is very worn, but I got it that way. The S&W 586 has holster wear around the muzzle but I got it that way too. The 605 was perfect even though it was a blue gun and it often (usually) went around the house in my front pocket.

December 29th, 2002, 12:34 PM
My Colt GM and my Colt mustang show the most wear. Oddly engough they are the guns I carry the most. The mustang being a stainless pocketlite shows little wear except on the rear tang were it rubs in pocket. The 1911 shows wear near the front of the slide, from countless holsterings. The most rewarding wear is the on the right side of the trigger gaurd from my trigger finger riding outside the trigger gaurd untill the sites are on target.

I carry when I can, but not at work. I work at a pretty save site so I don't feel worried about having a gun locked in the glove box while I'm in the office. That's also why I don't have an NRA or gun club sticker on my automobile as not to draw unwanted attention in the parking lot at work.

Carry legally in Ga. Most of the time its a G&G pancake or IWB.
Galco Miami classic shoulder holster in the cooler months.
My 10 year old G-17 is wearing around the slide edges, and the crappy plastic fixed sights are getting worn down. ( If I ever get around to it the Glock facility in Smyrna will replace 'em for free. )
Only carry gun I've ever owned, or ever will own.

Are wear-resistant, or not too pretty.
There are four, one semi in stainless, one in nickel, a P32 in hard chrome and a blued FEG .380 Walther clone that's no beauty contest winner but is dead reliable and as accurate as any .380 I've shot.

I carry all the time. I've noticed that the way I carry seems to have more effect on gun wear than the amount I carry. My Kahr K-40 shows almost no wear but I carry it IWB, almost always under a jacket or shirt.
OTOH, the S&W Model 19 I carried when I was a LEO (back when LEOs carried .357 revolvers) has great looking metal and looks new when viewed from the left side but the right side of the grip is chewed up pretty bad. The wear pattern probably doesn't make too much sense until you see where the seat belt buckle on a Crown Victoria falls on a holstered gun in a duty belt.
The overall "worst for wear" gun I own is the S&W Model 36 I carried in an ankle holster for backup. Between the dirt and smacking into things, after thousands of hours of carry it's not exactly the belle of the ball. Naturally it also holds the record for the gun that I cleaned the most times. It may not be pretty but it's still going to put a bullet downrange when I ask it to!
