How many rounds have you put downrange in your life time. Not counting rounds fired in the Military, time as LEO's okay.

I'll start

.22 LR 4,000+
.22 Mag 75+ (hey I only have a NAA 5 shot revolver) :p
.223 4,000+
303 750+
308 3,000+
10mm 750+
12 gauge 400+
16 gauge 10
357 mag 300+
357 sig 500+
44 mag 50
458 Tromix 100
9mm 1,000
40sw 2,000+
45 acp 1,500+
7.62x25 25 (didn't like it)
7.62x39 5,000+ (it's cheap)
454 Casul 25
499 LW 20
50 bmg 200+ (only have bolt actions):(

Oh my!! Well . being only one year off 60 .. there's a lot of water flowed under the bridge!

.22lr is probably the winner, as with most people . I'm guessing but 75,000+ would seem a fair stab!

The rest? Well .. in compo' days and using homeload 38's ... that had to be in region of 25,000 - 30,000.

The rest of cals? ... many, many 100's of most stuff .. and predictably the 7.62x39 is well ''up there'' in four figures, but don't really keep count!!

I won't answer that one....might be a governmental bureaucrat seeking reimbursement for the clean up costs....:D

No telling how many. I've put over 10k through one Kimber since the end of 1999 and I started shooting regularly around 1955. It would be as fruitless as trying to figure out how much money I've spent in my life on lunch and dinner dates.

I tried to add it all up, but my calculator started smoking and spitting sparks, and my computer spreadsheet program went into "blue screen of death" mode... so I guess I'll never know! :D

My guess is that John Ross would be at or near the top of the heap in terms of total rounds fired and exotic calibers (since you exclude military experience).

Well into five figures (probably low 6 thinking about it more). Adding in the army & I'm well into six (I ran a range for a couple of summers, we couldn't turn in any unfired ammo :D ).

I don't think I could even guess. I know it's less than I would like to have put downrange, but well into 5 figures. More 9mm than anything, followed by .45. I need to get a good .22.

This ought to be pretty easy.

.22LR - about 5,000
9mm - about 3,500
.243 Win - about 200
.270 Win - about 100
7.62x39 - about 100
12 guage - about 1,000
20 guage about 300
.44 Mag - 1 :D

And that ought to just about do it. ;)

Considering that I started shooting about 23 years ago, I'm having a tough time coming up with a decent ballpark figure.

So...... I'll just say "Many"

no......

make that "Many many".

If I were to include rounds fired in the 5 years I spent on active duty in the Marines, I'd have to adjust the total up to "A whole buttload".

WOW! Never thought about it.

Been shooting for over 40 years. Lets see now --

Used to shoot competitive rifle -- used to shoot competitive skeet -- etc., etc, etc. Hunting, plinking, black powder. Lots of rounds downrange.

Hmmmm. Never really counted, but lotsa times loaded 1,000 rounds or so a couple times a month for years (slowed down some recently!). Has to be somewhere north of 500,000 rounds lifetime.

Absolutely no possible way to estimate that....

.22 or 12ga would hold top honors I know.

Lets just say countless.

Y'all have given me some impressive numbers to aim for!! I've only been shooting for 5 years.

22lr probably 3500 maybe
22mag 75 maybe
38 special 450
38 special +P reloads 750+
380acp 700
357 magnum 250
303 British 500
30-06 250+
12 gauge 300
Blackpowder squib loads for reenacting, countless

Throw arms I didn't own
Ak47 clone dunno which caliber 35
.223 30
45 ACP 60
44 mag 6
20gauge 50

I'm probably underestimating the number of rounds that I've fired but even if you double my estimate, it is still very unimpressive.:uhoh: This summer I hope to increase all of those numbers:D

On the bright side, all those rounds of ammunition and I've always been safe and been around safe people.

Ton's of .22LR, about 3500 rounds of .223, about 1000 rounds of .45ACP, and not nearly enough of all the rest. But I am diligently applying myself to the correction of this deficiency. :D

My favorite so far has been 10 rounds thru an AR-15 chambered in .50AE! :what:

Greeting's All-

50 Freak, honestly there is NO WAY of telling
how many rounds I have sent downrange over the
year's? If I had to guess which one the leader might
be; I would guess the .22LR, followed by .38 Special.
.357 magnum and .45 ACP would probably be a tie
for the next spot; as would 9m/m and .44 magnum
for the last spot.

In rifles, the M-14 wins hands down! Followed by
the .22-250, .243, .25-06, .30-06, 7m/m magnum,
and .338 Winchester magnum?

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

Ho boy, no way to be sure, and I'm still pretty new at all this.

When I one day purchase one of the dozen or so transferable miniguns however, it will look something like this:

.22LR: Rounds to zero
.30-06: Rounds to zero
9mm: Rounds to zero
.338 Lapua Mag: Almost rounds negative.
.50BMG: Rounds to zero.

.308/7.62x51mm: 500,000+ THIS WEEK ALONE! :)

PS: Cyberdine Systems, that has to be one of the funnier posts I've read in a long time, thank you! :)

Now here's a thought. If you were to put a price to all the ammo you've blasted over the years, how much money do you think you've spent????

I'm not going to answer this one, as it's going to make me very depressed.

Think I'll just go buy a few bricks of 22 for the next month or two, time to put away the FAL, and 50 bmg. 10/22 here I come. :uhoh:

I have no idea what my lifetime count would be; but I fired 1,700rds of 9mm just last weekend - so I am guessing it would be pretty high across the board.

Too old to remember, but I'll mention the 'honorable mentions':

two-gun 50 AE "rapid-fire": 14 (didn't hit anything, but it sure was fun)

EDS Windrunner .50 BMG: ~25

full auto .45acp Tommygun IN THE PRK :D :D :p: ~100

Jeez. All I know is it is a LOT. I shot over 30K last year in handguns alone and have a shotgun with over 80K through it. Somewhere approaching half a million I would say, and possibly a hundred thousand more when in the military. 12 guage alone is somewhere around 250K rounds in the last 10-12 years.

Would have been an interesting bit of trivia to have kept track, and then figured dollar amounts........:what: :what:

Someone would have to post a thread that made me think about all the money I've spent on ammo!

I wouldn't dare venture a guess on lifetime numbers, but a quick review of my shooting logs from the last year shows...

.22 LR - 22,000
9mm - 6,000
12 ga - 2,000
Other misc "stuff" - 1000
