I have an SP89 and I have come to find that I can't really find a comfortable position to fire it from. What I see a lot of MP5's with are either a collapsable stock or a plastic stock. Could I put one of these on an SP-89? And where would I find one from if I can? I think they are pretty much the same gun right?

thanks.

"What I see a lot of MP5's with are either a collapsable stock or a plastic stock. Could I put one of these on an SP-89?"

In the USA: NO!!!!!

It is ILLEGAL!!!

You make an unregistered short barrelled rifle, which is an NFA-weapon!!!

It is a federal crime!

You can put a stock on it if you register it as a SBR.

I don't know where to get the stock, but the folks at http://www.hkpro.com will probably be happy to help.

Any weapon that has a stock is considered a rifle. Rifles have to be at least 26" in overall length and have a 16" barrel or they are short-barreled rifles and fall under the category of Title 2 weapons. Unregistered Title 2 weapons will put you in the pound-you-in-the-ass prison for up to 10 years.

Don't put a forward grip on the SP89 either. Because then it becomes an unregistered Any-Other-Weapon with the same penalties. If you register it as an AOW you can put the forward grip on it but still no stock. If you register it as a SBR you can put the stock and/or forward grip on it. The stock can't be a folding stock and you can't have a flash suppressor on it until Sept 14. Full-auto is a complete no-no.

If you aren't in the United States, disregard all of the above and knock yourself out. :scrutiny:

That's gun control for you...Don't you feel safer? :barf:

No, I'm in Florida, no way around it, oh well... I guess I just need to find a comfortable way to find it... oh well, thanks for saving me a trip from the police station if you know what I mean.

Thanks

If you really want a stock, just go for it. It takes a bit of paper work, and I think the SBR tax is $200. Life is too short to spend with guns that you don't like.

The SP-89 is a pre-ban assault weapon.

If you want to add the stock and/or foregrip, fill out and submit ATF Form 1 along with a check for $200. When ATF returns the form approved, you can buy and add the stock.

A further option would be to add a 16" HK 94 barrel and a stock, making it legally a rifle. However, adding a 16" barrel to an SP 89 sorta defeats the purpose.

Just do the paperwork and get the gun the way you want it. The tax stamp will only cost you about 10% of the cost of the gun.
