IF Colt is making a piston AR47 that takes AK mags, I am SOLD on my first AR!

Let's hope so! Last thing we need is divergence in these like with the ARs in .308.

Link didn't work for me either.

This is the article I first read about it on until the OP fixes his link :D

I believe I've seen the name "AR47" used already so I doubt if Colt would call it that.

I'm not inclined to give much credence to an English-speaking adult (the soldiersystems.net article) who doesn't understand when and how to use apostrophes.

Those mags appear to be loaded with something other than 7.62x39. Maybe .308? Hard to tell what's going on there.

Glad you mentioned that! I can't speak for that writer but generally when a writer butchers his native language I tend to doubt his credibility. And with questions in these forums, the amount of effort made by the OP affects the quality of answers.

It will be interesting to see what does or doesn't come of this.
I say this because I think a true AK/AR hybrid would be cool but I too agree that the ammo in the mags definately wasn't x39.

Also the link from the op didn't work for me either.

looks like 6.5 grendels in those mags but they dont necessarily go with the gun rick is shooting

To me it looks like a US Palm 7.62x39 mag sticking out of the rifle. As others have noted there are other mags standing upward in the corner of the photo which are probably 308.

Frankly I'm only interested if its piston driven. You can build a piston AR in 7.62x39. You can buy an AR that takes AK mags. Having both qualities in a factory built gun sounds ideal to me.

Knights did field AR's that used AK mags at the request of spec ops in Afghanistan.. perhaps Colt made prototypes too?

Source? I'm interested in reading about that.

This, but it's not confirmed that any were ever fielded. Only a handful were made:

The pic on wiki looks similar to Rock Rivers design

The Bigger Question for me is...
Is Ol' Pointy Boots Perry getting Colt to come to Texas?
