Gauging interest for a Special Order run of these LINCH covers.

For those that have not heard of these covers, the are a Leftside Integrated Non-Reciprocating Charging Handle for the AK-47/AK-74 platform. I purchased one from the manufacturer and mounted it to my wz.88 Tantal and ran it through a brief range session on Saturday. It is exceptionally well constructed and gave me no troubles through a 400 round course of fire. I went away with a very healthy respect for the value of this add-on accessory and will likely be running it on a 5.45x39mm AK-74 during my next carbine class.

I am looking to see if there is enough interest to warrant making a special order for these covers. They MSRP for $130.00

Opinions and questions on the LINCH cover definitely would be welcome either by posting here or dropping me an email at don@RCArms.com

That's pretty clever. I like it. I only question how it actually interacts internally.

The tab on the inside of the cover sits in front of the shoulder on the bolt carrier and when the Left Side charging is used, the tab pushes against the flat face of the bolt carrier and is returned to battery by the same face.

Would it interfere with an optics mount if you had one on the left side? I know you couldn't use it with the mount installed, but would it get in the way of installation?

It will not interfere with most optics mounts available, but there are a few that the manufacturer states that it will not work with. I'll see about getting a list of compatible mounts for you.

But, then you have a big dust and sand gathering slot...

It's no bigger that the gaping hole on the right side from the safety.

I'm not overly concerned about dust/dirt/water/snow/ice entering the action on an AK though. I've run AK's in conditions that would stop an AR in it's tracks and have never had a stoppage other than ammunition related.

This is far better than other AK left-side charging handles I've seen. One, the slot is much smaller. Two, it does not quire you permanently modify your bolt carrier. Three, it does not compromise the rigidity of the dust cover because the track is welded on both sides, restoring the strength that would otherwise be lost. In fact, it probably improves it.

This slot is small enough and the design such that I think it could be improved further: a bit of molding could be added to the slot to close it so it actually would still keep dust out.

Are you kind of thinking like the rubber seal on the Sig 556 that seals the charging handle slot on the receiver?

I haven't seen that, but most likely similar.
