Snubbie shooting high

I recently purchased a S&W 637. The first time at the range I found it shot high....very high. I would have to aim at the bottom edge of a bullseye target to get close to the center. I've heard snubbies shoot high and also the ammo can be tuned for POI but I'm thinking my 637 may have to go to the factory for alignment. Any thoughts?

Try shooting 158LSWC-HP+P from Winchester or Remmie. That's basically what the critter is tuned for...

What bullet weight are you shooting?
Heavier, slower bullets will shoot high and lighter, faster bullets will shoot lower. Most .38sp are regulated for the 158 grain bullet.

Try changing grips first. Sounds like it doesn't quite fit your hand. Something a bit longer. Those factory grips are pretty small. Even for somebody with normal sized hands.

Thanks for the quick replies. Next trip I'll try some different ammo and see what might shoot best. Also, I have fairly large hands and now that I think about it my grip may cause my sight picture to be off. From what I've read in this forum I was expecting more recoil but it was very moderate. I think if I get longer grips the bore axis may sit higher in my hand and improve my aim. Any suggestions on grips for larger hands? Thanks again, Bow

Yeah, I'd pick up a box of cheap 110gr stuff and see it THAT still shoots way high. ;)

I had a brand new 642 that shot low. It shot about 10" low and about 4" left at 15 yards. I sent it back to S&W with a target showing where my group was and at what range. I also stated that I would be carrying 125 grain Plus P's in it.
S&W returned the gun within a week, hitting exact point of aim with 125 grain Gold Dots from Georgia Arms. The paperwork said that they replaced the barrel and the front sight. I suspect that they also did major bending on the frame, but that is just a guess.
If a gun is shooting outside what S&W considers "normal" tolerances, they will fix it.
Your gun is under warrantee. Have S&W fix it. Even the shipping is free.
