SUPER PRO MAGNUM EXTREEEM TURBOOOOOO!!

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/514805/lyman-turbo-2500-pro-magnum-case-tumbler-110-volt

Couple of years old, I generally tumble batches for 8 hours. Maybe that's my problem?

motor ripped/broke the threads out of the plastic housing. Motor just rattling around in the base.

I imagine I just need to buy a new one? Is there another one that's proven more reliable? I REALLY like the large capacity of this thing.

All those vibrating tumblers contain the seeds of their own undoing, if you will. Eventually (often pretty quickly), they just tear themselves apart. Sometimes it's just a wire that needs to be resoldered. Sometimes not.

If a Thumler's tumbler weren't large enough--if I really had to do big batches all the time--I'd look into a small cement mixer.

Did you call Lyman to see if they would do anything for you?

No; based on other customer reports after a year the warranty's up, and the replacement parts offered cost about the same as a new tumbler.

I'm not too upset, and I really liked this tumbler. It holds A LOT of brass, worked well, and was quiet. In retrospect a couple of months ago it stopped being quiet (likely when the plastic bosses started to crack) and that should have told me something was up. I looked as closely as I could but didn't see anything obviously wrong).

But I would like to buy something similar that won't blow up in a year or two. Maybe that's an impossible dream.

I tumble all day or overnight often, and so far so good with mine. As posted, it may be something simple like a loose wire.

I have the same model Lyman....5 years old....so far so good. But probably this is a good head's up to check the guts for tightness and wires for wears. Thanks.
