Gunshow - M27-2 - Oops!

Mrs P95 and I went off to a small gunshow this morning... nice drive, and just thought ''take a look'' .... Was doing OK having got just some good value padded pistol cases (those zippered deals) ..... plus a lightweight 1911 trigger. Even resisted ammo .. no one had any 9x18.
One table tho kept pulling me back :p ... another M27-2 beckoned me.!! I kept telling myself, nope, didn't need an 8 3/8 barrel .357. Voiced my dilemma to Mrs who looked at it and admired - and promptly said ... ''well, if you like it why not get it''!! (doncha just love that!!)
Well, that did it. As some know, I obscess over N frames and this one was old enough to be well desirable (don't want late models). Timing seems very good, and all pointers suggest it is VERY ''low mileage''. Bolt drag lines are not too bad and bore and chambers immaculate. Still had original box, tho was fitted with the small grips......... I immediately changed those over to some old spare large ones I have.
Paid too much tho .. he wanted $465 .. ouch! Best he'd do was absorb the state tax and NIC's fee .... and hold that price, so .. small saving only (about $40 I guess)... $400 would have been better but ''want'' did I admit win the day.:D

Harrisburg show? Any other N frames worth talking about?
You're just experiencing "Buyer's Remorse". It happens with any big ticket purchase. It'll go away when you shoot it. :D

Harrisburg show? Nope .. just a small one in McConnellsburg (Fulton County) .. only an hour away.
Actually "Buyer's Remorse"..... is already wearing off :D .... and having had spousal approval goes a long ways to dulling that one!:p
"Any other N frames worth talking about? " ..... oh yeah ... 29's!!!

Maybe it was a little pricy, but it is a very nice revolver! I love that 8" barrel.
Best of luck with it!

Very nice Chris my friend!
Now if you just don't have any use for a 8-3/8"
.357; then send it on down to Dixie, we always
find a use for nice weaponary! :D Enjoy~

Ditto what ole bud Ala Dan said. Send it on down to Dixie!
Pricy? Gee, check what you can buy new today for between $4 and 500. Plastic, stamped, and neutered for the most part. That piece of iron will be here come doomsday given minimal care. :D

I bought one exactly like it a few months ago, and the long barrel kind of grew on me.
Its a nice shooting gun.

Very nice. I love .357s, now that I have the M57 I love N-frames, one of these days I need a M27. You keep doing things like this (posting pics like that) and that "one of these days" will probably come a lot sooner. Oh, I know probably won't be making another MD shoot until fall, but you think you can bring it along when you do?

Oh, I know probably won't be making another MD shoot until fall, but you think you can bring it along when you do? Sure thing my friend .... but then as you have already witnessed ... I tend to deposit a great deal of my safe contents into the truck anyways when I come out to a shoot! :D
Only thing I want to improve on it is the D/A pull ... it's perfectly acceptable but compared with my ''slick as butter'' M28-2 and the ''nearly as slick as butter'' 5" M27-2 ... it just needs a smidgeon of easement. I daresay because it is ''low mileage'' all it needs is plenty of excercise!:)

I really like my 13 and 586, and swore I would never have an N frame but but I recently picked up a 8 3/8 27-2 my self. Great gun try shooting some 158 gr XTP sp over some 14.3 gr of 2400. What a hoot....

N frame convert eh Brian!!:p They are rather addictive ... glad you like yours.
I guess my fave load won't be too far removed from what you mention .. Lyman cast 158 gas check SWC over 14.0 grains N-110 Vhit powder. It's not quite a max load but is MOST satisfying .... and doesn't stress the guns too much.
That same load BTW out of my Win 94 does really well.
I think everyone should experience an N frame ... and if they didn't like it I'd sure as hell wanna know why!!:D

WVleoWas it the same Gun-show as the one that sets up in Greencastle Yeah, I think it is .. ''Commonwealth Target Co. Gun Shows Penna'' ... it was held at the Americal Legion Post 561 ... 411 North 5th Street ...... sorta ''round the back'' of town.
Not a huge number of tables and not overly crowded. And - as seems all too common these days, many of the C&R items were seeming rather overpriced, some anyways .

P95Carry,
I agree totally with XavierBreath, they don't make them like that any more! I probably over paid on more guns than I care to admit, but you know, the ones I did are the ones I've held onto (and not because I'd had "too much" in the gun).
You will not find another as nice. Congratulations!!
Enjoy.
