A lot of people seem to like 5.0 gr. of Unique for a 9mm load with 124 gr plated bullets, and I would like to see if some of you guys could share some Chrono data for this load. Thanks.

In my G19 with a 4.02" barrel using CCI 500 primers in mostly Win cases I get about 1040-1050 FPS with 124 HP's and FMJ's. 124 HP's seated to an oal around 1.125" and 124 FMJ's to 1.150-1.160". The same 5.0 grain charge of Unique with 124 grain bullets gets around 1250 fps in a 16" carbine. Shooting Speer's 124 gr. Gold Dot 124 HP in the G19 with Unique I get 1135-1140 FPS using 5.4 grains of Unique with CCI 500's and Win brass. I would only use this level with the Speer Gold Dot's and is not maximum according to Speer data. The 5.0 grain charge of Unique with 124 grain bullets is a good safe and accurate load in various cases and with different 124 grain bullets. It's not hard on brass, the handgun, nor the shooter. Your results may differ? Just for comparison, shooting 4.6 grain of Unique with 124 grain bullets I get around 930 fps and with 4.8 grains I'm getting around 960-970 fps.

I have loaded some 124 gr Montana Gold RN with 5.6 gr of Unique seated to 1.130 and they chronoed about 1070 fps out of my Beretta 92. A bit hot I know but that's what I was looking for.

Thanks for the data gentlemen. My primary computer is in the repair shop and I don't have access to my chrono data right now. I was running 4.7 gr of Unique with 124g Rainier FP bullets and am thinking of bumping up to 5.0 gr. Mostly shoot through my Browning High Power, but also through a S&W 4313 with a shorter barrel. Will start using some Montana Gold 125g bullets that I bought for loading .357 SIG since I am all out of my 124g Rainiers right now. Hope this insanity ends soon so supply gets back to normal.
