I've seen 1006 models and 1076 models, what are 1026 and 1046 like? Are there any other 10mm S&W's?

1026 is the 5" barrel with the frame mounted decocker, and the 1046 is the 5" barrel in DAO.
Someone correct me if my info is off.
I think most of the other versions were 1076, 1066, 1086, 1006, there may be more (compact) but I am not sure.

The 1046 saw very limited production. It's DAO w/ a 5" barrel. (The much more common DAO 1086 has a 4.25" barrel).
The 1026 has a 5" barrel and a frame-mounted decocker, ala the Sigs.
HTH. :)

Thankyou, thats what i was looking for. was the 1026 the predecessor to the 1006 or vice versa? Which came first, the frame or slide mounted decocker? Does the decocker also function as a safety? Are there any 10mm smiths w/ a 1911 type safety?

1006 made from 90-93
1026 made from 90-91 Same as 1006 but with decocking lever on left side of frame in front of the grip.
The decocker allows the hammer to be lowered safely. Once you decock, the lever returns to its original position. As such, it is not a safety in the traditional sense of blocking the hammer from going forward if the trigger is pulled. Think revolver.
No 1911 type safety on any 10 that I'm aware of.
