Man, I'm worn out. I taught a NRA Personal Protection in the Home class this weekend to qualify students to apply for a Michigan CPL.

Yesterday was the classroom portion and today we did the shooting at the range. It was a good class; 5 men and 3 women with varying degress of experience. Everyone was attentive and on the ball and there were no significant problems to report.

We had an interesting mix of guns on the line. One CZ-75 (my loaner), a couple S&W revolvers (also my loaners), a pair of Browning Buck Mark .22's, a Glock 27 subcompact, a Taurus PT 111, a HK USP Compact in 9mm and a FIE 9-shot .22 revolver. The Buckmarks had occassional feeding problems and the Taurus had at least one malfunction, but I'm not sure what kind because the shooter got it back up and running. The CZ had one jam when a casing bounced off the cover and back into the ejection port. One of the students with the Smith's managed to short stroke the trigger once and skip a chamber somehow. The .22 revolver ran fine, but was very slow to reload. (For some unknown reason, I wind up with one 9-shot .22 revolver in every class...)

All in all, I'm pleased. I think everyone got something out of the class, including me. I learn something from my students every class.

I got home and 2 p.m. and immediately crashed for a 3-hour nap. Now I have to finish the paperwork and settle up the accounts.

One last thing. On the way to the range this morning I had to stop and wait for a Doe and four Fawns to cross the road in front of the gate. I was only about 15 yards away and in good light, so I got a nice view. Nice way to start the morning.
